A Liberal majority - you've got to be effing kidding.

I guess the people of Ontario like politicians that are the biggest crooks.

Squander a billion dollars for political gain - and they reward you.

Well, my guess is that we won't have to look at Hudak much longer.

Really? You'd hardly know that with the recent election in Ontario.

All I know is that the comments on most news stories are not very favorable towards the Conservatives these days.

Anything can happen between now and the election.

The National tonite had a major segment re the by election next week in Spadina, exclusively between NDP & Libs. Depiced how it will be next year between those two and why the Conservatives will continue to rule the roost. You should listen to the podcast if you missed the National.

"The National tonite...."

????

You must be kidding.  For years conservative supporters have complained that the CBC was a propaganda machine for the Liberals.  Now they claim the Conservatives have major support despite every poll showing differently?

Are you suggesting you now trust information coming from the CBC?

Sometimes (not often) even the CBC has to acknowledge the truth. That goes for a couple here also. Smiley LOL

Did you see the news or failing that did you listen to the podcast?

OTTAWA—Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau and his party have widened their public-opinion lead over the ruling Conservatives in the past few weeks, according to a new poll by Forum Research.

Liberals were the preferred party for 39 per cent of poll respondents, compared to 31 per cent for the Conservatives and 19 per cent for the New Democratic Party.

In terms of leadership, Trudeau also scored highest in approval, with 43 per cent, compared to 34 per cent for Prime Minister Stephen Harper and 38 per cent for NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair.

But Trudeau and Harper are essentially tied when the question is “who would make the best prime minister?” — 28 per cent say Harper, 27 per cent say Trudeau, and 16 per cent say Mulcair.

On the 4 bi-elections June 30th, the Liberals are polling winning 2, the Conservatives 1 and the 4th too hard to call.

Did you expect it any differently?

The federal Conservatives are keeping expectations modest for their prospects in four byelections -- two in Alberta, two in Ontario -- set for the end of June.

"We all know majority governments don't typically fare well in byelections, the opposition parties do," said Cory Hann, communications director of the Conservative Party.

"And these rounds we don't expect to be any different."

The Conservatives anticipate hanging on to the two Alberta ridings but do not expect to win more than 10 per cent of the vote in each of two Toronto-area contests, said one senior Tory insider, who spoke on condition they not be named.

"The two Ontario ridings, I think the writing's on the wall on those," said the source, who picked Justin Trudeau's Liberals to win both fights.

"If there's a race, the two horses in that race are going to be the NDP and Liberals."

"Conservatives are keeping expectations modest for their prospects"

That is a very good idea.  It is a good plan.  Better than the "Action plan"!

The Conservatives should also have low expectations for the next general election.  Maybe they should expect 50 seats and will be very happy if they get 75. Smiley Happy

Pierre you are completely wrong   on this statement .  "When you put $1.00 in a pension plan, you receive (appx) $0.30 tax refund for a net investment of $0.70, then your employer adds $1.00 to your account, leaving you with a $2.00 value in your pension plan, I do not see that as a reduction"

On you C.P.P.  payments you receive 15% federally and 5.05% Provincially. However since the new Ontario Pension is run only Provincially you will get to deduct your share from your Provincial Tax only so a reduction of 5.05%  So this new tax on a $30,000 earner @ the suggested 2% will cost him $600 and on that they will save 5.05% or $30.30 leaving them with $569.70 less in their pocket each year

I figure if your going to quote you might as well do it correctly. I put into my RRSP and have control over how my money is invested and am not interested in being forced to put money into the Provincial fund.

The Liberals can call it whatever they like but the  only truth is that it is just another payroll tax on an already taxed out employee.

Trudeau and Liberals emerge big winners in federal byelections

http://ottawacitizen.com/news/national/four-byelections-may-show-which-federal-party-has-momentum

The fight between the Libs and NDP will continue. Should be interesting when they contest for those fairy tale "orange surge" seats the NDP captured in QC the last election which gained them official opposition status. May be heading for a flip flop between them, Libs 103, NDP 34, the opposite it was in the 2011 election. Of course you know who wins the rest up for grabs!

"Trudeau talk"

The Liberal leader has made it an habit to put both feet in his mouth at the same time.

As stated earlier, he was not ready to take the leadership of the party.  He would have benefited from four more years of parliamentary experience before assuming the lead.

His major challenge?  Same as Joe Clark a generation ago - just a bit too young for the job.  More maturity would have helped.

However, it is what it is.

Canadians next year will have the option to vote for a Liberal government headed by a young inexperienced leader, a Reform-Conservative government lead by ??? (most likely someone new to the job) or the NDP lead by the more experienced Mulcair.

And, with a balance federal budget in sight, we can expect all types of electoral promises from all parties.

How will we spend those billions and billions of dollars?

Bail Wynne out. No Federal party will let Ontario go to the dawgs.

I found it interesting that the NDP lost Olivia Chow's riding.

My guess is the liberals and NDP will be fighting over who wins 2nd place.

Ontario debt rating outlook cut to negative by Moody’s

TORONTO — Moody’s credit rating agency changed the outlook on Ontario’s debt rating Wednesday to negative from stable, citing concerns about the province’s ability to eliminate a $12.5 billion deficit by 2017-18 as scheduled.

“After several years of weak to moderate economic growth, and higher than previously anticipated deficits projected for the next two years, the province is facing a greater challenge to return to balanced outcomes than previously anticipated,” Moody’s Investors Service said in a statement.

The change in outlook affects approximately $250 billion in debt securities, Moody’s said as it reaffirmed Ontario’s Aa2 ratings.

The ratings agency didn’t wait for the Liberals to introduce their budget July 14 before lowering the outlook to negative, but Premier Kathleen Wynne has said it will be identical to the May 1 fiscal plan that was rejected by the opposition parties, triggering the June 12 election.

I will never believe another poll again so to me polls mean nothing now after the provincial election I think it is clear that poles are useless.......

As for liberals there are already signs of them not keeping all there promises .... Wynne seems to be avoiding some transit topics in which she made promises to do ....

Not pleasing the unions and not pleasing the GTA Transit would leave the liberals with yet another front stage show to the party of lies...

Fun fun

It looks good on the unions if Wynne screws them.
