Advice needed regarding Egypt

Someone just bought a large, heavy item, and they are apparently in Egypt. I am a little concerned, because they have hidden feedback, and wrote the following message:

"HI -- pay pal dose't do business in EGYPT so if you please send to me your business phone to organze pay with you Thank you"

Do you think I am right to have some hesitation here, or does this look okay to you? Thanks for your help.

This is most likely a SCAM in the process and you will lose your item and money.

The ONYLY WAY I would proceed here is with a WESTERN UNION MONEY TRANSFER and/or BANKWIRE TT Transfer...if you do not know what this is CALL YOUR BANK and ask them what is the safest means to get paid from overseas and they will tell you what you need to do.

DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARD over the phone or via email
DO NOT ACCEPT COMPANY CHEQUE
DO NOT ACCEPT INTERNATIONAL MONEY ORDER
DO NOT ACCEPT CASH VIA MAIL
DO NOT ACCEPT PAYMENT VIA A LOCAL (CANADA OR USA) THIRD PARTY even if they want to pay via PAYPAL -- most likey they are using a STOLEN CREDIT CARD --- PAYPAL INSURANCE does not apply to EGYPT so even if they pay you via PAYPAL you will not be covered by PAYPAL insurance and/or eBay insurance. --- This is another new scam that is growing in occurance were a local and international person team up to scam eBay sellers out of their high ticket merchandise -- the local guy pertends to have his credit card information stolen and reports this to his credit card once you have shipped the item. The credit card company then contacts PAYPAL and PAYPAL immediately frezes any monies in your account -- then you are out of cash and merchandize.

All of these will comeback to haunt you --- offer two (2) payment methods only:

1. Western Union
2. Bank Wire Transfer (SWIFT)

If the person comes back and is relunctant to use any of the two payment methods above then you know they are trying to scam you.

Cheers,

FTL

Hi,
Thanks FTL~ really appreciate your comprehensive response.

The buyer phoned and sounded okay. He wanted to use a credit card, but I can't take those anyway, so he agreed to Western Union. I guess that there is no risk, if he uses that, and I get the cash, huh?

Mostly worried about the postage, which is going to be a lot of money for this, and I do not want to be left holding the bag for that. I'll proceed slow and cautious, but I am thinking this is legit. Thanks again! Tim~

I'm thinking it's legit as well although I was unable to figure out who the buyer is (post the item number?).

Don't be too concerned about the shipping charges, let the buyer decide if they can afford it.

A WU transfer is fine as long as you collect the cash before shipping.

Thanks a lot, to both of you, for your help on this. He's sending a Western Union money transfer, and didn't blink at the horrible postage-- so I guess this is all going to work out fine. Appreciate your assistance. Tim~
