Hi Raphael, this is a bit of a rant but I want people at ebay to be aware of the time it takes to implement ebay changes.
Most of my time is spent trying to jump through the ebay hoops. I have over a 1,000 listings and with each change I waste my time getting my listings to conform to ebay changes rather than listing the 10,000 more I do have.
For instance taking 2 minutes for each listing multiplying that by 1000, it takes me 16 hours to update my current listings.
Changes that I can remember (and there are many more):
- Picture size all had to conform to a certain size. This took 10 minutes per listing or 166.6 hours to update 1000.
- Updating the UP C codes. Took 5 minutes per listing. This took 83 hours.
- Offering free shipping allowed better placement so I updated again, 16 hours. ( I don't offer it on everything so can't use selling manager)
- Changing shipping methods to prevent late shipping defects, updated again 16 hours.
- Changing US $ to Canadian $, 10 minutes per listing, (research for pricing and updating shipping amounts) 166.6 hours.
Each change that ebay implements wastes my time. Why can’t ebay just slow down on the changes.
Hi musicyouneed,
I appreciate that many of the changes we make to the marketplace translates to additional work for many of our sellers. However, given that eBay is already dated in terms of features and alignment with the rest of ecommerce, if we didn't make any of these changes we'd be left with a marketplace that just doesn't keep up with the competition. That wouldn't be good for anyone.
There are already better practices I can recommend for you based on what you wrote though. For starters, why not wait for the migration tool to be ready for converting your USD items to CAD? That will greatly accelerate this task. Also, for updating your listings to free shipping, you can still use the bulk edit tool even if you don't put all of them on free shipping. You could just load all your listings in batches in the bulk tool and go down the list one by one and only make changes to the ones you want. The rest would remain untouched when you submit them all. Happy to provide additional guidance on any of these if you'd like, just send me an email with what tasks you're looking to do and I'll tell yo what I think is the best way to do it.

Oh, really? I thought that the descriptions were getting cut. That shows what I know 🙂
The description summary is a new thing? Is it similar to the condition description?Alex
Yes it's a new thing and similar to the condition description, in that it'll show up at the top of the page where buyers can see it without scrolling down.
Thanks for the reply. I have one more question for you.
I wrote a review about some of the eBay Airjacket Envelopes I purchased, but I can't see it now. I don't see it in my profile on .com or .ca either. Is eBay having a problem with the reviews now?

Last February I was absent for three weeks and kept my items available with Vacation time displayed on system (to be safe have added two extra days for packing and shipping)
People were buying, and with my iPad I was sending messages to each buyer reminding about my vacation and my return date.
When I got home I had to pack exactly 30 packets, parcels and letters and I was prepared to do it... The subsequent letters were sent to buyers confirming the shipment. Nothing resulted in negative marks or messages.
However, now it will be smart to close the store even for a shorter period in view of the question "Did your item arrive by dd/mo/yr?"
Yes, I will lose my sales, but eBay will lose my FVFs...
Too bad they did not consider to program this situation for mutual satisfaction.

A procedure to reactivate the missing gallery photo... in a search was put up on eBay and removed.... not once but twice.
I have used this procedure both within my Active listings in My eBay and within a search report on eBay.
-------------------------------------
and here it is...
------------------------------------------------------------
Two active listings have been found with gallery photos not showing in a search.
In order to get the photo active..
I have done the following.
(1) Open the listing.
(2) Click on the photo to get the zoom image.
(3) Right click the photo and save the zoom image.to your computer
(4) close the zoom image
(5) Go to revise listing option for the listing in the upper left corner of the listing,..... and open to revise the listing.
(6) Upload the saved photo to the listing.
(7) Delete the"old" photo and replace the old photo with the "newly uploaded" photo.
(8) Close the revised listing.
(9) Go back and view the listing as an active listing..... and the gallery photo should show
If the zoom photo does not show in an active listing .. then one can most likely save the photo directly from the listing...
Using this option means that the photo in the listing can be saved and then be added back to the listing and replace that old photo with the newly uploaded photo....
No need to go search for the original photo (or take a new photo) added to the listing

2045?
Did I miss something?
Elon Musk invented a time machine.
But he lost the patent fight when someone pointed out he didn't invent it, he was just trying to patent the time machine he used to get back to the 21st century, and the real inventor hadn't been born yet.
It was reported on The Beaverton site.

Do you have a specific date when the migration tool will be available?
Thanks!

You did not miss... I missed the button...
I guess it is time to joke about "cheap drugs" ?

I am going to use this listing as ab example: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/271445088829. How are you supposed to download the photo if there is no photo?

I have no news on that unfortunately. Thanks for the reminder, I'll ping the Shipping team on this again.

Problems on eBay? 🙂
I don't know of any current issues with Reviews but I can have a look and ask around. Please give me the URL where you went to write your review so I know what team to reach.
Thanks!

The ticket I had opened for this has been closed by PD. Do you still see a problem?
@pocomocomputing wrote:2) Delivery time estimates being different in the Shipping and Payments tab that the Order Details page.
This was added to my list, and taken off. It wasn't an issue. The day discrepancy you saw was due to the time zone difference. The buyer saw the right date on their end.
@pocomocomputing wrote:3) No Local Pickup for calculated shipping.
This isn't a bug per se. I still don't know what the logic is there but all sites work this way.
1) No. On my other id, I have 12 Active Listings with a total items of 24 and $267.02. My eBay Selling limits show Active items at 13 with a value of $96.87.
Edit: Perhaps it is a counting issue. What categories are counted towards the selling limits. I recall that Business & Industrial have no category limits while other categories have listing limits.
2) The difference was 2 days if I recall which cannot be accounted for by time zone difference of maximum 1 day. I will have to dig up the old listings to see if it is still there or find a new example.
3) I know that all sites work this way but it is not logical to do this. How to put in a request for change?
Last why is the status of this past issues not posted here in the weekly session? Why do I have to ask repeatedly what is going on and never get the status of the issues and then be told something has occurred on the issue but I am never informed.
I know that you are not customer service of eBay support. But it would be nice if the information you get is passed on. If you say you are going to look into it and never update, how are we supposed to know what is happening?
I am not trying to be rude or critical but how do we set up a means of keeping track of issues and their status? You have your opening list and if I recall correctly, I have asked that the above be added to your list but do not recall if they ever were. I do read the forums daily and participate in the weekly sessions but I do not remember the status of the above being posted. I thought your list in the opening was the means of tracking issues and their status and resolution.

Hi pocomo.
1) Thanks for pointing this out. I can't figure out the discrepancy so I have asked someone to take a look. I apologize for letting this issue slip through and have added it onto my list.
2) The mistake we both made when assessing this the first time was to add your 1 day handling to the 5-10 days displayed on the item page. Those 5-10 days already included your 1 day handling (the native EDD for that service is 4-9 days). The other mistake we made was to rely on the view from the eBay.ca site, which showed the EDD converted to GMT -7 hours (our local time zone) and yielded the following: Tuesday, 18. Jan. 2016 - Tuesday, 25. Jan. 2016. However, when looking at the same from eBay.co.uk, where the buyer was located, the GMT 0 time converted the EDD to Tuesday, 19. Jan. 2016 - Tuesday, 26. Jan. 2016, the correct EDD for this shipping service.
3) There is a standing ask to change this. I don't know if there is an ETA for it.
I appreciate that it may be frustrating to report things and not see them immediately resolved, but I promise you, every single thing that is brought to my attention on these discussions gets forwarded to the appropriate teams. I apologize if I sometimes fail to update following that, but I have to rely on those teams to do their jobs as well - keeping track of the things I send them and chasing them for updates is not something I can always afford to do in the midst of my actual responsibilities. Sorry if that causes you inconvenience.

There are no links to write a review on eBay.ca as far as I know. Did you do it on eBay.com?

I am pretty sure I wrote it on eBay.ca although it is possible I did write it on eBay.com...I try to do everything on .ca if possible...
Do you want a screen shot of my review when I can see it?
