Avoiding costly currency conversions

I have a bit of a dilemma. I'm a member of eBay Canada but divide my time between South Korea where I work and Vancouver which I call home. Most of the things I buy on eBay are listed in US dollars so transactions are converted twice.

I'm contemplating buying a rather expensive Nikon lens. I'll probably buy it through eBay Korea as I can save on shipping and I'd like to use my Korean credit card for payment. However, the likely scenario is that the purchase will be converted first from Korea Won into US dollars then reconverted into Canadian dollars. I'd like to avoid those costly conversions. Is there any way to force a transaction into the original list price?

Really not sure what you're asking.

If the ebay item is listed and selling in Korean Won, then that is what will be charged to your credit card.

It will only get converted by your credit card company if your credit card uses some other currency.

Many sellers, with an eye to the international market, list in US Dollars: that's the rub!
