Hi All,

Curious if anyone lives in or near Barrie, Ontario....or if you know the area well. I'm looking for RV camping information, or cottage/cabin information...possibly for this summer for 2 - 3 weeks. No tenting as we would be there for a figure skating camp.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Susan,

I don't have any info on cottages or camping but I can point out a couple of places to visit if you get the time. Bob & I have stayed in Barrie a few times and really like the city.

If you like flea markets you can visit the 400 market which is, of course, located just off the 400 highway. Attached to it is a very large antique market. Nearby is the village of Cookstown where they have some unique shops.

Hopefully you will have some free time to look around while you are there.

Its been a long time since I was there, but there is the Barrie KOA which is an RV campground.

If you have kids and you don't mind a little bit extra time on the roads you should look into the RV parks/campgrounds near Wasaga Beach. It's just down CR 27 from Barrie and is a bit more of a touristy area. Plus in the summer you've got the Longest Fresh Water Beach at your "doorstep" to rest and relax when the RV gets a bit too cramped.

Yes...we have 3 daughters! I did look at some places in Wasaga Beach but the ride from there to Barrie each day for skating practice would be a bit much.

However, you are right.....beautiful place!

I've tucked this info in my folder for future use!

Thanks!
