Buyer says item not received

Has any seller out there has problems with buyers saying they have not rec'd items. Well there is a scam going on with few buyers. BEWARE!

Something that cost less than $10.00 buyers don't want to pay for Registered Mail which in Canada is $8.30 depends on the weight, so this is normally sent with Regular Mail.

Low and behold they will email you back and say, item not rec'd. So Paypal credited them the money and U are out both goods and money while they have both goods and money for free. This is the holiday so they are trying to get back the money they spent over Christmas., except U not getting it back from them.

This should not be the case, we are losing money left and right.

When you list Buy it Now and item didn't sell, your listing fee is still deducted. I thought U won't be charged for that. I called them and they supposed to credit, but nothing.

I am really fed up. The sellers are getting a rotten deal, whereas the buyers could do what they want, they can leave neg feedback and we can't. We have all the work here, purchasing, scanning, listing, pkg. etc. But yet they are complaining. Ebay giving the buyers too much upperhand over the sellers. Shouldn't be the other way. I hope things change soon or Ebay might not much of a business..

Re: Buyer says item not received

If you ship LetterMail/LetterPost, include a small premium for self-insurance in your handling charge. Pay refunds from the accumulated funds.

If you ship LightPacket, do the same, but also give your buyers the shipping invoice number when you tell them you shipped. This is easily mistaken for a Delivery Confirmation number.

If you ship Small Packet, your shipment is covered automatically for up to $100 against loss or damage in transit. Refund your customer and go after Canada Post. (Phoning works best, and yes there is a delay. But you get your money back.)

Registered Mail is not only expensive, but is not recognized by eBay/Paypal. Silly but there you go. Don't use Registered Mail.

Expedited service when printed through PP has a 20-25% discount off the PO counter price.  This is Delivery Confirmed. If you billed over $250, you will need to upgrade to Signature Confirmation.

I'd suggest using Lettermail for most of your current listings, with self-insurance. But that gold coin? Expedited, definitely. Not using it would be penny wise and pound foolish.

Re: Buyer says item not received

If you don't keep your actual sales receipt for light or small packet, you'll be out the money, and Canada Post/Paypal will not acknowledge your claim.

If you're sending an item worth less than $100, small packet is the way to go if the item is going out of country. You are not allowed to send anything other than documents by registered mail, so forget that.

If you choose to use light packet, do as the other person suggested: charge your customers a small fee to cover yourself in the event of a loss.

Over $100, send by expedited mail (if you have a Venture card), or, you can send it by small packet and add private on-line insurance through Insurepost. It's available for items sent by Canada Post and you can insure up to $1,000 at $1.50 for every $100 value. They take Paypal, so you don't need a credit card. Just google them. They are affiliated with Shipinsure.

If I send an expensive item that I want to make sure gets there with no chance of the buyer saying they didn't receive it, I only send by express mail and add signature. It's really the most secure way.

Good luck! It's not an easy world out there.

Re: Buyer says item not received

Printing through Paypal gives you that number automatically. It usually will also show on your Items Sold list.

And Expedited purchased through Paypal has an automatic 20-25% discount from PO counter prices.

All labels printed through PP have the equivalent of the VentureONE discount.

Registered Mail is not recognized as Proof of Delivery by Paypal and eBay so don't bother with that. The Registered sticker is also international code for "I am worth stealing".
