CANADA POST DELIVERS PACKAGES ON SUNDAYS.....

I just received (3) packages that I purchased from the USA on Sunday, Dec.11/2016 @ 3pm.

Yes they are delivering on Saturday & Sunday over the holidays to try to catch up on all the extra packages. I had a parcel delivered to me on a Sunday & I just noticed another parcel of mine that I sent was delivered today back east.

They began doing this a few years ago, working weekends to deliver things starting at the end of November. Working overtime to stay on top of things. Personally, I see them doing a better job at this than the couriers right now, that's for certain.

I've always wondered if USPS mail delivery is 6 or 7 days a week all year long.... I noticed packages shipped to the USA being delivered on weekends during the summer months (according to the tracking info).

Mail is delivered on Saturdays in addition to weekdays in the United States.

Note that the terminals continue working on weekends all year long.

It's only delivery that is weekday most of the year.

I wonder how much online buying is affecting the PO's business.

There was a story in the G&M Report on Business a few years ago with a PO VP who said that in Queen Victoria's day the majority of PO business was parcels, not letters and that she expected that situation to return in the 21st century.

Now if they would just add really cheap parcel tracking.....

That is the very question being examined right now by the Standing Committee with their cross-country tour. Canada Post in the Digital Age, that 133-page report I was citing in discussions about my testimony when they came to Winnipeg, really delves deeply into it. I can unearth the link again if you are interested in reading more. I found it quite fascinating but then I am a total nerd.

In order to avoid the Wrath of God for working on Sunday they are using an all Jewish delivery staff, who have already had their day of rest.

And while Canada Post is meeting and/or exceeding its delivery standards, today alone, our household got stiffed on 'guaranteed delivery day' services from UPS as well as two orders from Purolator, one of which was important to be received on time due to the fact a special event has been scheduled for its distribution tomorrow. Except it's late and/or totally lost. Incredible. The fallout from that parcel NOT arriving when it was supposed to is as bad an outcome as anyone can possibly imagine. It was a custom order and it's for a special event tomorrow, an event being held exclusively for the contents of the package. Mine can wait, I can always find something else. The UPS order wasn't critical. Except that I paid $100 for two-day delivery which I did not receive.
