Hi all: This morning got an email notice from CANADA POST that a package had arrived and waiting. The CP Logo, tracking number, etc., all looked perfect. I needed to enter the site to get invoice for pickup. Since I was not expecting any package, I talked to my local CP office and traced the tracking number, delivery address. BOGUS, but very well done. Thought I would let you know to be extra vigilant on CP notices.

Canada Post does not use an invoice for pick-up. They ask for identification and signature at the counter if the shipping service requires that.
Also CP notices provide a tracking number and an item number, but you can't click on these - you have to go to the CP website and enter the tracking number.
Thanks, realjazz, for alerting us to this email scam.

Very interesting. So it was like, click on this link to tracking or an invoice? Huh. Canada Post/PitneyBowes/Paypal Shipping sends so many notices now with every label printed that I'd probably fall for it and I certainly know better. Thanks for the head's up. It might be worth letting Canada Post Corporation know.

I did call CP to let them know and I was told others have also called. Just be sure not to go into any official looking CP link giving you info about the package waiting.

I have recently been getting different legit email notices from Canada post, with a clickable link to tracking, for items sent from amzn, walmart etc. Some of them say "You are receiving this email at the request of amzn ", and some a generic "You are receiving this email at the request of the shipper to provide you with updates on the progress of this shipment." . I got the parcel at home, but if i missed it the link would have gone to tracking that said available for pickup

Thanks, "toby". You're right - my bad for omitting that. On the last line of the notice, the link is "more details".

New emails using Canada Post’s name or brand are circulating, inviting customers to either click a link or open a document to obtain their tracking information. We wish to remind customers to not click on any links or open documents. These fraudulent messages are known as "phishing" and may contain viruses.
If you are not expecting a package, delete the email. If you are, please do not click on the hyperlink. Instead, enter your tracking number directly on the canadapost.ca site to find out about delivery status.

I get 4-5 "phishing" emails like that every week,I block them if I can but they still find a way to send these bogus notices.some are so badly written ,it's laughable but when you think about it,they must have some level of success with this method of scamming since they still keep on sending these all over the WWW.
