CBC fires Power and Politics host Evan Solomon
CBC News has "ended its relationship" with Power and Politics host Evan Solomon after a Toronto Star report alleged he facilitated sales of art to wealthy Canadians.
In a statement released on Tuesday, CBC confirmed the news.
The Star report alleged that Solomon used his CBC connections to broker high-end art and collect hundreds of thousands of dollars in commission.

CBC’s code of ethics states that employees “must not use their positions to further their personal interests.”
Among the buyers, according to the Star, are former Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney and Research In Motion co-founder Jim Balsillie.
Balsillie told the Star he had no idea Solomon was allegedly making money on the side from the art transactions.

My guess is that he was fired because he wouldn't share.

Amanda Lang was just as guilty but she's still there. I guess gender matters!
Evan Solomon isn’t the only one at the CBC who should be fired

"left winger" ??
heck even the NDP isn't left wing any more!
Out of Canada's three main political parties, two are now centrist and one pretends to be. And I'm not even sure about the Liberals and NDP being true centrists. I understand tey are all backing these big trade deals (in theory)
And I wonder whether either the Liberals or NDP would try to reverse Harper's sell-out (giveaway) of the Canadian Wheat Board to the Saudis, etc. Or, that perhaps not being realistic, would they take on aything that would tend to reverse or alleviate any of the anti-Canadian moves that Harper has made... hard to say...
I guess reinstating mail delivery is something, Mulcair's day care and $15 min wage for fed regulated workers, but I don't know - most of the left-of-centre ideas we have heard of so far in the campaign have been small potatoes, so we'll see...
Anyway, Evan Solomon being a high-rolling capitalist by any measure, hardly merits being called a "left winger"!!

I guess Art never listened to Solomon on Power and Politics. For that matter the whole CBC is biased left. They should be required to earn their own way through advertising like all other media. Instead they feast on a billion a year from the taxpayer trough.

Valve you're very inspirational today.
I've been trying to think of a new model for news media and thanks to you I've got it!
Take 10% (or a set number) of all satellite, cable etc revenues, and redirect it into a special public/private fund that would be administered in such as way as to ensure diversity of journalism and content voices in all Canadian media.
I think it has potential!

Couple that with a 50 percent reduction in the current billion handout to CBC.
Rosie, Solomon's replacement is like a fresh breath of air.
Oh BTW, did Solomon manage to bootleg some of your art?
