I shipped a package to the US using CP Small Packet Air on Sept. 7 2006. Needless to say it got lost. I shipped a new item to the buyer after 1 month using FedEx to the exact same address and it was delivered without any problem. Filed my claim and did everything by the book. Now here's the kicker, the package turned up 3 days ago on my doorstep with $7.27 Postage Due with a note saying Not Deliverable as Addressed. Today I received my refund check. As far as I see it CP owes me for the original shipping cost and the return shipping which comes out to about $20.00. The check covers my shipping and the merchandise. I have my merchandise back now. What would you do???

i returned a cheque once that i got and the buyer ended up getting the package the next day, but i'll tell ya, after that and up until now...i wish i hadn't!! if i were you, i'd keep it, after all the items they've broken merchandise that i had to reimburse myself (and its not like these items were 'badly' packaged, its clear this merchandise was abused), out of all the items they deliver shamefully late etc..etc..etc.., if it were me, i'd keep it, call me dishonest, i don't care, that's my experience, and my opinion!!;-)

I recently tried to claim a lost Small Packet sent to Australia.
I just got a form letter from CP denying my claim as 'not trackable' and suggesting that I should use an insured service.
Idiots.

I mailed a small packet surface parcel from Ontario to Rhode Island. I processed it on the CP EST. Shipped it Wednesday and it wound up back on my door on Friday. I immediately called the 877 number on my venture one card and asked why it was returned. The operator said she didnt know, someone at the post office obviously screwed up, just drop it back in the mail and try again... I said hold on a sec, I happen to agree that Canada Post screwed up, this should have been well on its way to Rhode Island, not back on my door step. I suggested that maybe a refund would help to ease my frustration with the postal screw up and the operator agreed to refund my money.

Call me stupid, but I had a parcel that disappeared on its way to AK, got the refund cheque about 3 weeks after I called on it, and on a lark checked the item and sure enough it had been delivered a couple days previous. So, I sent the cheque back, uncashed. I wouldn't have felt right keeping it. In your case, you did have to pay postage twice but you did get the original item back. Depends on relative costs of postage and item I guess. Gloria

Cash the cheque!
When your next claim is denied you won't be quite so p'd off.
