Does anyone remember this offer from about a year ago? Canada Post made a splashy offer of 'free shipping' and when I inquired, I believe the actual offer was a refund of 5% of shipments made using certain Canada Post methods and would apply for a period of 1 year from October, 2004 to October, 2005. I remember contacting someone at Canada Post at the time and getting some detailed information on this, but of course, now I can't seem to lay my hands on that information. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Yes, we were supposed to get 1 month's average back, on all USA Expedited or USA Expresspost, International Surface or Air Parcel, and International Expresspost. The amount would be awarded to our accounts.

I went to the eBay Open House in Vancouver and spoke to a CanadaPostrep about it and she had no idea what I was talking about. Maybe it's time we all started rattling the cage!

Oh, thank-you so much for responding. I agree with you - no-one at Canada Post seems to know anything about this (no surprise there!) and also that some cages need to be rattled. Unfortunately, I can't locate any of the original information I had on this. I can picture it in my head, and am wondering if there ever was anything on paper. I'm now thinking that there was a Canada Post Icon that you clicked on in the Power Seller's section to get the information and now, of course, that link is no longer to be found. Although, I'm pretty sure there was some information on an E-bay circular that we got in the Fall of 2004. So where do we go from here? I guess the question should be put to E-bay.

Got an email and phone number. I was transferred a several times and reached a person who knows about it.

She said that they would work on it and issue a cheque to us once they finished it. However, there is no estimated time frame.

Isn't 5% what you already get with a Vanilla Venture One Card?

We ship mostly Oversized Lettermail (don't get me started on the issues with paypal and US buyers demanding tracking numbers because they are used to 3 tiers of lettermail WITH delivery confirmation etc.) BUT doesn't Venture1 give you 5% and demonstrating consistent Parcel Shipping Numbers get you 20%+ via their "Levels" (Level 1, 2, 3)

The offer was this: From Oct 04 to Oct 05, Canada Post would average your EST shipments (XpressPost USA, Expedited USA, XpressPost Canada) per month. This "monthly" total was to be given back to you in the form of a credit on your account.

The only problem with this (well, not the only problem but the most glaring one) is that if you have a PS account with CP, they will only allow you to use a credit card for payment. You CANNOT use the credit on your account. I brought this to the attention of CP and eBay last year and got the typical lack of reply. If you were counting on that "free month", don't hold your breathe.

I would love to see Canada Post and possibly also eBay.ca taken to task for this. I myself wouldn't see much in the way of a credit as 95% of my shipments are small packet which I found out much _later_ are *exempt* from the offer. However it's the principle of the thing as CP made this vague offer with plenty of strings attached, next to nobody at CP knowing about it to help you and apparently no willingness to actually follow up with the promised free shipping. A new new low for CPC.

Wow - it great (not really!) that so many others are having this problem as well - I had thought I was the only one and was coming on here to ask for help about what to do when I saw this posting. I have been waiting patiently for a response to one of my many e-mails and have only had the one automatic reply saying they will get back to me within 48 hours and that was early last week. If I do hear back I will post it.
