Canada Post Ship & Click ? about Weights

I used the Canada Post Ship & Click (Adventure One) for the first time today.

I'm curious. I put in the exact weight of the box (filled) as 7.2 kg but when my label printed out...it said that the weight of the box was 9.191 kg.

Curious...WHY?

Am I supposed to subtract the weight of the box? I have two more parcels to ship so I'll wait till I hear from an expert!

Hmmm...or did the weight change because of that volumetric weight stuff?

There is an actual weight, weight of the contents and the weight that you are charged.

Only the content weight and the total weight should show, although you might have been charged a volumetric weight.

Also, typos do quickly happen lol!

Hi Bernie,

I double checked the screen and my paperwork after I printed it...no typo errors. I was wondering if I was supposed to put in JUST THE WEIGHT of the contents and not the box since Canada Post added on so much!

Oh, well! New experience! But boy...either way...PayPal or Ship & Click....what a breeze!

I have to tell you Bernie that having stated shipping for the most part is so much easier EXCEPT when someone buys 100 or so items and their shipping shows as over $150.00! It's hilarious! Some buyers actually pay it and don't think twice about it, but I do try and catch them before they pay and ask them to let me invoice large orders directly. Otherwise...I refund.

Either way....my time with shipping has been cut down considerably and sales are UP, UP, UP!

THANKS FOR ALL!

I actually just ran a test with a 1kg box (merchandise and packing) but large dimensions. The "volume weight" came to 9.4 KG.

What you need to enter are exact dimensions and packaged weight. The system will do the rest. What is printed on the label has no bearing.

What counts is that you entered the data correctly (CP is very good at catching "oopsies", whether intentional or not), what your customer paid and what you have to pay. The rest is but mere fluff.

With a 20-25% exchange rate we should all be laughing.

We decided to go with flat-rate shipping at the beginning of this year and have noticed a significant increase in order sizes.

I believe what this does it is not necessarily lower the cost of shipping but rather lead to the perceived peace of mind for the buyer.

I have never seen so many orders with such large quantities as in the last 4 weeks. They just keep adding items. Hey, it's "free" shipping after the first item 🙂

December was our record month last year. January beat this record. Recession? What recession?

And, yes, as I suggested to you on the phone "state shipping cost and your sales will zoom". Glad to hear that you took the advice; and it worked for you 🙂

Cheers
Bernie
