Cancel transaction case opened by seller ?

I received a broken item . I notified the seller and they opened a cancel transaction case . What is the purpose of this ?

I also cant seem to access the case itself through the resolution center . It says the info is unavailable .

Once you have received a full refund from the seller, you should agree to cancel the transaction. NOT BEFORE.

The purpose?  A cancellation allows the seller to recover the fees paid to eBay for the transaction.

If the seller was being difficult, he would have insisted that you reaturn the broken item with Confirmation of Delivery. He has that rigfht (It's a fraud prevention thing.)

Relax  and agree to the cancellation when you get the refund.
