Comics Anyone? Want To Discuss Em?

Anyone interested in talking comics? Trends in the market.... Conventions.... Grades.... Third party grading companies.... Individual books from all ages....

I'm interested to hear from others with similar interests, so don't be shy!

Comics Anyone? Want To Discuss Em?

Hey Paul. I am going Friday and Saturday and have already purchased the premium package. I'm interested to see what it is going to be like. I'm also staying at the Fairmont Royal York.
All the best.

Comics Anyone? Want To Discuss Em?

Hi Comic Collectors. I purchased this item 200137745252 on my buying ID from a large seller. I have had the strangest emails from him and wonder if I am missing something.
The item was advertised as NM/M(near mint/mint). It arrived as much less without even a backing board so I asked what their policy was for unhappy buyers. The book had many dents, bends and spine breaks. The seller told me the book was as advertised..... A nm/m 9.0(?) which is allowed defects. WOW. He went on to tell me if it was advertised a NM-(9.2) then there would not be any defects. A NM/M is a 9.8, Without many(if any) visual defects. I felt like telling him to go check out page 139 of the Overstreet for grading basics....
I think he is trying to pull the wool over my eyes because of the low feedback I have on the ID.
Any thoughts.

Not a comics collector, but I would do exactly as you suggested; take photos including the packing material (or lack of it), detail the defects and mention the Overstreet grading standards. If you get nowhere, file SND with PP/EBAY. You will have to pay return shipping with DC but you should get your $$ back.

Hi Ann. I did take photos and sent them to him. He replied that the defects were allowed in a NM/M grade. Complete rubbish! I am not a fan of shipping items back although I realize it is necessary and something I have done on many occasions. In this instance, I would rather the seller do a partial refund of at least the cost of shipping the book back. About $14. I should be looking for more but think this is reasonable.
I just can't believe the response of such a high volume seller. I've been discreet and professional so far, but may fire off a few pages of the Overstreet price guide (which is the bible to the comic collector) grading standards , if things aren't settled to my satisfaction.
I think I am more pissed with him treating me like an idiot than the loss of the money...
EBAY should do something about these bad sellers!;-):^O

Hi. To follow up. The seller told me I was right and that he made a mistake. I got the partial refund I wanted.

Yeah, I think you're right - he was trying it on because he thought you were naive.
