Completely OT....but do need help!

Hi All,

Back in 2002/2003 our oldest daughter, Jamie, developed a website for the group of families that adopted from China at the same time we did through Children's Bridge. It was a beautiful website and all of the families quite enjoyed it.

Mind you.....our twins, Kaitlyn & MacKenzie and Emi loved it the most. It was always a *place* that I could take Emi to for her to see the babies and photos of us. It would always calm her down because of the very peaceful music that Jamie has playing there.

Well, a few weeks ago I went to the website and lo and behold I do not have a clue what has happened to it. I've been able to save a lot of the information from the site, but what I can't seem to get to is Emi's Diary.

On our family page there are baby blocks spelling the word SWANSON. Above that there was a link to Emi's diary....our two weeks in China...our journey for her.

Now there is an advertisement there and I can't get to the link.

I can't even figure out how to call Angelfire to ask them how I can see it one last time.

Does anyone have a way that I may accomplish this task?

Emi is heartbroken that the website is broken and so I'm working hard to put another together for her.

Any help with finding the link to her diary would be most appreciated! I wish I could just peek under the banner and get to it!

I can't help you Susan but I had to comment on that baby picture of your youngest .Absolutely adorable!

I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that you can find a way to get to the page that you want.

As this is a free website I understand that the ads are there to help pay for your site (unfortunately, nothing is really free).

If your elder daughter built the site she is the person to ask, don't you think?

Jamie and I both have tried everything that we know. It's almost like the free banner ad has been substituted where the code for the link was.

We'll keep trying.

Thanks. My heart is just broken. Jamie gave our travel group this website as a gift and each of the families have dearly enjoyed it over the years.

On the photo page there use to be the cutest picture of all of the babies adopted at that time sitting on the couch in the lobby of the hotel. It was priceless.

And, there was another photo that Emi's cribmate family had posted of the two of them sitting on the same couch. What was so special is that we named Emi....Emi....not knowing that they named their little girl Emma.

We'll have to do some more digging into this website. I just don't understand how one day it can be there and the next day it 3/4 disappears.

But, thank you for your kind and encouraging words.

Hi Susan,

So sorry for the loss of the diary...

I tried to take a look at the page source, thinking that at least it should show links even if they end up covered by some wrong coding and/or spacing.

Unfortunately, it doesn't have any links directing to anything like the diary would be.

If you are using Firefox, try to see for yourself by pressing CVtrl+U (Or clicking View > Page Source in the Menu bar)

You might try contacting Angelfire, to see if there is an older cached or version or backup. Google's cache was dated January 15, and it was already not present.

Also, try to search your Browsing History, for Emi or Diary, see what comes up.

The web address for the page and the contents you are looking for should be present SOMEWHERE, try to Google a specific text fragment that you know it contains (like the title or a line you might remember) Put your searched text in quotes " " to drill down for exact matches only.

Two Anglefire techs contacted me and both were sorry to say that Emi's diary is gone. They don't know what happened to it OR the majority of our website.

On a much more positive note....a dear friend of mine of 55 years SAVED every e-mail that I sent home from China while we were there. She has forwarded them all to me so I am now able to piece back together Emi's diary as that is where her journal originally came from!

So, while the beautiful website that Jamie made is gone.....I have the most important part back again....Emi's beginnings with us.
