Did you file an Unpaid Item dispute? You should. eBay doesn't get involved in debating whether the glass is half full or half empty.

Your item ended on August 7th, your buyer is in the US and is mailing a money order. US lettermail often takes 2-3 weeks.
And why would you leave feedback before filing an UPI dispute? That's just asking for trouble.

From here feeback it looks like she does pay not sure how quickly thou.

Like Zarzuella commented you should not leave feedback before the UPI is closed and even then leaving feedback first will always leave you exposed with the few buyers that like to play games.

Hopefully you will get your payment and you can put this one behind you.

I filed a dispute. She definately did not pay. First she said she paid by paypal which is balony, then she tells me 3 different dates the Money order was sent. I've had buyers like her before. Liar's, ebay has plenty of them.

Ebay really drops the ball when it comes to protecting sellers from neg feedbacks. It almost isnt worth leaving someone a neg feedback because of retaliation.
The best thing to do is complete the long dragged out filing of a dispute. When its time to break off with the dead beat, give the neg and close the dispute.

That is what is the main reason why buyers like the one above can keep on going and doing what they do.

If sellers actually reported them for not paying then it would take only 3 sellers to get the person kicked off/suspended.

Sharing of deadbeat lists is also a good idea, I know this topic was discussed previously but has never taken off and/or adopted by this group for whatever reason.

Given how many of us there are on here it would not be such a large task to do and the benefits would be worth the effort in my opinion.

Afterall, why let someone else go through the bad experience with the same user when it can be easily avoided - especially for newbie sellers - scammers target them more often then not since they think their inexperience is a benefit/advance to the scammer.

Just my 2 cents worth 🙂

Tim,

You can't do that, share BBL lists, for a couple of reasons. First it's against the rules. It's saying don't buy from this person or don't let this perosn buy from you. Badmouthing them, transaction interference etc.

Secondly, with so many different products not everyone is going to attract the same buyers. To me it would be pointless. I chuckle when I read about people adding others to their BBL for a nutjob buyer of computers when they're selling books. (for example) it makes no sense to me. Sure people may buy those items as well but we all attract different people.

Just my opinion. I don't see the church lady who had a spaz on me about a tatted bookmark buying an electronics item for parts, you know.

jakeeangel is right.

Besides, you can only add so many id's to your BBL. After all of the ones I've had to add to protect myself from certain members of this board (who love to interfere with others businesses by negging guides, etc) I wouldn't have much room left for everyone else's nuts. LOL

I see your points but I still thing that there is nothing wrong with sharing intelligence as it could only help rather than hamper a sellers efforts.

True not everyone would be added but I guess each seller can make their own decision on what is added and what is not added.

Everyone know all well that their are magots out there lurking on eBay that look for their next victim. In our world of electronics there are quite a few known scammers, they change ID's so fast that it is hard to keep track of them - so that is were the information sharing comes in handy.

I understand that this would most likely not apply to a seller dealing in books or salt lamps for that matter so once again those sellers can choose to ignore the information.

As for telling/sharing with another seller information about a scammer - there is nothing in the eBay policies that prohibit this as each seller is free to sell to whomever they choose to do so.

Plus the information can be transmitted outside of the eBay system so like this it would be none of their business.

Well ebay withdrew her feedback because she never responded to the unpaid item, she also never sent the money. Doesn't surprise me.

I have learned to pick my battles on here. Even thou the feedback has been marked 'Rating withdrawn by eBay' it still sits there and 'looks bad'.

I only say this cause I have a comment or two on my feedback like that one. It's not right, but we all know eBay does not care if the comment sits there.

Hi
I've run into a few deadbeats.
My solution is short and to the point.
I refund their money, put them on the forbidden list, or file a dispute and not leave any feedback.
Theives are theives, wether they're the bidders themselves or the postman.
Either way their neighbourhood is a write off.
Yes I take the loss, but I've run a retail store and when you get a pile of people in, you can't see everything.
Fortunately...the theft was usually minimal
It might be a little hard to swollow, but you have to ask yourself, "What's the headache worth at the end of the day". There are theives and dirt bags and yes Ebay doesn't do enough to rectify the issue of bad persons.
You might think about making some buyer requirements.
If enough sellers complain about the same ebayer...Then Ebay will do something.
Good Luck

There is not seller protection!
But sunshine, if you have nice swimming suits for me and for my wife I will buy from you because I trust you!!!
I need 7 different swimming suits which I can use ones everyday on 7 days vocation. First it is for me, second for my wife. Sorry, I hate American(negro) stile for men, it must be European stile very "tini" for men. For my wife just open swimming suits. Let me know if you have it. Thanks, Vitali.

I have the same question, where is the seller protection??? EBay and PayPal do a great job in protecting the buyers but not us the sellers! We have to provide the best customer service and it's our interest to do it, but when it comes to Ebay and PP providing good customer service to us, we usually get a middle finger!!!!! I'm fed up of "buyers" who purchase and never pay. If they answer to my unpaid disputes, saying payment eventually would be done but in fact never pay; I can't leave them a negative feedback, even after 3 months have passes without a payment.
I m starting to look for other ways of selling my merchandise! Kind of had enough of empty promises and extremely bad customer service and support especially from the CANADIAN EBAY!

I agree, ebay has become more for buyers than sellers. I don't list as much and I will never open a store again. Totally not what it used to be 😞
