Credit Card Payment Declined (a rant message to ebay)

Dear ebay,

I understand that you wish to have your money when the time comes to get your fees, I very much do because I also would like to have the money that you are freezing in your account every time I get a payment from a buyer. I know why you are taking such action with recent sellers (even if you are in a way biting the hands that are feeding you), but you can't turn around and ask for your lion share when I didn't get mine.

Your system doesn't even work probably because according to your own rules, once the tracking has confirmed that the item has been delivered, then my funds should be cleared within 3 days, which is not the case half the time. Your fees are based on a service that allows me to sell my items and receive money in return, so if only get half of that service, well that's the equivalent of you painting half my house and asking for the full payment right away.

Since I have found a loophole by keeping an expired credit card in my account, you decided to simply block me from adding new items or revising my current ones. There's less than 7 days until the rest of my items are either sold or are left unsold. Since I can't reach you by e-mail (and I'll be damned if I waste an hour over the phone for this), I'll just leave my conditions here:

1- I'll update my credit card for automatic payment if you stop freezing my funds (and I want a written e-mail stating that you'll stop doing this)

2- We go back to the way it was, you remove that block that you inserted, I'll keep listing and send your fees once all of my funds for that month have been unfrozen

If neither of these conditions are to your liking, then I'll just take my business elsewhere. This is 2016 ebay, not 2006, you're not the only game in town.

Have a good day

"according to your own rules, once the tracking has confirmed that the item has been delivered, then my funds should be cleared within 3 days,"

You may have misunderstood the rules.  What you mentioned applies American sellers selling on eBay.com and shipping from within the USA.

As stated in the rules and policies Canadian sellers have to wait 21 days before PayPal releases the funds to their PayPal account.

Please read the rules carefully as they apply to you if you ship from Canada: http://pages.ebay.ca/help/pay/payment_hold.html

In the meantime you still have to pay your eBay fees since eBay did perform the service they bill you for.

"If neither of these conditions are to your liking, then I'll just take my business elsewhere."

You do not really expect eBay to give in to your blackmail, do you?

I suggest you pay you bills like everyone else and stop whining.

"Are you from ebay? "

No.  As you can see from my feedback, I am a very experienced Canadian sellers (over 106,000 transactions in eighteen years) with a good understanding of the system.

The question you raised has been asked regularly for years (since PayPal created the 21 day hold) and the answer remains the same: check the rules as they apply to Canadian sellers and wait 21 days for payment to be credited to your PayPal account.

eBay staff generally does not address posts such as yours on these threads except once a week, on the Wednesday Board Hour.

Pierre that has changed but obviously not all the help pages have been updated. I'm on my iPad and can't post the link but I found the following info ob .ca

WHAT CAN I DO TO GET MY FUNDS MORE QUICKLY?
The most important thing you can do to help get your funds more quickly is ship the same day your buyer pays and follow good shipping practices. Based on your shipping method and the shipping information you provide, here's when your funds should be available:

3 days after we can confirm the order was delivered, if you pay for shipping and print labels on PayPal. The PayPal label printing service is free, your tracking information uploads automatically, and you'll get funds to help cover shipping.
3 days after we can confirm the order was delivered, if you ship directly using Canada Postor FedEx and manually enter your tracking information into My eBay.
7 days after your latest estimated delivery date if you don't upload tracking information but you mark the item as shipped in My eBay OR
21 days after the buyer pays, if you don't provide tracking information, mark the item as shipped, or the estimated delivery date can't be calculated.
Please keep in mind that it may take longer to get funds if your buyer reports a problem with the transaction.

You should be receiving your funds within the time that eBay states you will receive it and I'm sure that it is frustrating if that isn't happening.  However, eBay is unlikely to see your demands on a user discussion board and even if they did, I doubt that they will let you dictate the way  that you want things to work.

Since you you only have to pay your fees once a month is it really common for you to have to pay them before you receive your payment?  If so, you might want to ask Raphael from eBay to look into it.  He's available on the weekly board on Wednesday.  Or, be patient as once you meet the new seller requirements your payments won't be held.

ebay does not read posts on these discussion boards.  The forums are for member to member issues, ideas, help and general discussion.

You can contact ebay here during the Wed weekly chat or call them.

Good luck with your selling.

I have to wonder why the OP decided that the Buyer Central board was the best place for his or her post.

I was going to ask the same of you!

I took a break from the boards from a while, mostly due to the preponderance of GSP-related posts and threads at the time I bailed.  When I returned, I decided to stick mostly to the .ca site and in particular the Buyer Central board in order to maintain some semblance of a life.
