Dead Email Address and Contact Info - eBay Does Nothing

My vent for today....
Had a zero feedback user use BIN on one of my auctions on December 6th. This user has been registered since 2001 and has bid on nothing but my auction in the past 30 days. Well, to no great surprise the email address bounces and I get a message back from AOL saying that so-and-so address does not exist. So, I'm figuring some other seller is "buying" my stuff to up the price on his own auction. Regardless, I relist and pull this user's contact info. Turns out to be bogus of course. I file a complaint with Rules and Safety and get the form email response saying they will attempt to email the user and will suspend him in a couple of days if it bounces.
Well, a week goes by and nothing. The user is still not NARU'd. Now, I'm figuring it may be a server problem, so I try emailing him from 4 other ISPs including 2 different web based emails. All bounce back with the same message of email address not existing.
So, I contact PS support with my problem and they forward it to Rules and Safety yet again. I get the same generic response and again nothing. I tried emailing again today with the same bounce back. And still not NARU'd... Going to file a NPB alert then wait 10 days to file for credit. It's just bloody frustrating to have to jump through hoops to get a credit when eBay should NARU him right away.

I agree. Try again... perhaps you got a careless rep assigned to your first email. Make sure you block the buyer as well, in case they try and re-buy the item to screw you again, before their account gets NARUd. Don't worry, it'll get NARUd, it's just a matter of when. Also, try the PowerSeller support form, they can also look into NARUing the account, and usually respond to complaints within a few hours. Finally, leave negative feedback (right now). Don't wait, do it now. They can't "get you back" unless they do it before they get NARUd, and it's unlikely the person using the account is actually even going to bother to check up on it. If they DO neg you, it'll be removed when the account gets NARUd. A negative (and nothing else on their feedback profile) will look really bad when their account gets looked at. Good luck!

I had the same thing happen to me, almost identical in everyway although he wasnt with aol. Just the same I couldnt contact him however after the auction ended I get an email from someone telling me he won an auction and wanted to pay with PayPal.
The guy had been with the US forces serving overseas for a couple of years and didnt update his eBay information when he retuurned. He lived somewhere different and had a different email address.
Anyway it all worked out. He paid, I shipped, we were both happy.

I had the same problem with AOL. I emailed EBay about this and they emailed ebay twice and never even got the email back stating that they will try to contact him.
I just got my credit back and I am moving on.
