Do you get ?'s about CP Rates from Canadians? Post yours

Hi all,
Since I have changed my listings to show our shipping rates I have been getting a lot of questions from Canadians asking why is it cheaper to send my item to the USA & Europe than it is within Canada. I even get sellers asking this. I always answer them with that is the way it is for small packets which is the most affordable way to ship but Canada post does not offer that service within Canada.

So I thought it would be fun to see how many of these type questions everyone is getting by posting the questions in this thread so we can get an Idea of the actual count.

I will start with this one

can you explain why it costs 11.99 to ship to me in canada and 6.99 to the states and 9.50 to europe???I have been buying ans selling on ebay for a long time this defies all logic.

i just do a flat rate for canada and usa. i figure it is easier to lose money on shipping to canada than to try and explain canada post rates.

I get a few of them.....no need to post as they are always the same as is the answer.....

Q - Why is shipping so high?

A - Because that's what Canada Post charge, check it yourself at www.canadapost.ca

Of course these questions don't just come from Canadians.

Hi all,
I guess I was not clear on the intention of the OP, And after reading it again I was not.

Since eBay is now going to link shipping to our PS status and discounts I think we should try and help them get an idea of what our customer are asking us and how often. We can do this by every time you get the question: "why is it more expensive in Canada?", post it on this thread and see how many we get. If we get enough it might get eBay's attention.

Speaking of which I go another today:
"Your shipping costs make no sence at all!..Why is it cheaper for International than in Canada? It makes no sence that someone in France pays cheaper shipping than someone in Ontario.Too bad...nice strap!"

Here is my standard response.
Hi,
You should actually be asking Canada Post and or your MP this question. Canada Post offers a Small Packet service to USA & International destinations that is not available within Canada and less expensive than any service offered within Canada. So it ends up that I can send small items anywhere in the world cheaper than I can across the street. Welcome to the world of Canada Post and shipping in Canada.

Hi, I just put this little note in all my listings: Please Note: CANADIAN BUYERS - Auction is set up for shipping from Manitoba Eastward. Saskatchewan to B.C. is way cheaper. Please contact me for the correct shipping charge thanks. If a bidder from Saskatchewan westward pays the higher cost I send their item by expresspost and then they get their item in 1-2 days and they are excited about the speed of the delivery.
