Stalin (famous Russian tyrant) is calling to chief of secret police: "Tomorrow you must execute 1000 people and paint Red Square in green color. Do you have any questions?"
Answer: "Mr.Stalin, why do you prefer a green color?"
Stalin: "It doesn't matter, but I like that you have asked about color only"
Resume: It doesn't matter, is new feedback rules fair or unfair. The most important thing is that EBAY requires to pay much more then before. They show you a sweet candy (15% off, if you have 4.8 rating) and present lower insertion fees (was 0.60, new 0.55 LOWER FEE!!!, but FVF was 5.25%, new 8.75% (why there is no mark of exclamation???).
Why did they choose DSR 4.8, nor 4.7 nor 4.9? They have statistic data how many PS have rate above 4.8 at the moment and they plan to pay back, let's say 1% of income. If more PS will get rate above 4.8 in future, they increase tier to 4.9 and ....
THEY WILL NOT PAY BACK MORE THEN THEY PLANNED.
EBAY.COM is doing business, EBAY doesn't care about fair rules, buyers and sellers (especially from Canada, I suppose EBAY.CA turnover is 1-2% of EBAY.COM.)
Well .. count your profit-loss balance after Feb 20 and make your decision: stay or leave, it doesn't matter what DSR tier is fair, EBAY has decided: "You must pay more!".

You know the best canadian Powersellers will get on the DSR is probable 5% DISCOUNT. We have 4.9,4.9.4.8 & 4.6(lowest on the shipping cost). We are at a disadvantage on the shipping cost because we ship worldwide. And we do a amazing job communicating with our buyers.
Keep fighting and good luck to you all !!

There are also quite a few Canadian Powersellers who will get the 15% (I'm not one of them).

What percentage is that 0.00000001% . Tell me something, do you work for ebay because I see you defending Ebay and ALL there policies concerning price hikes and THE NEW BEAUTIFUL FEEDBACK POLICIES THEY PUT UP FOR US.
I am not another deadbeat POWERSELLER. I hardly ever leave negative feedbacks (only when someone does not answer or not pay)I have very good feedback & DSR.
And the fees decrease is like sand in your eyes so you think it hasn't gone up (BUT IT HAS/ You can not defend these 2 policies).

According to eBay 15% will qualify for the high discount and 60% will qualify for the smaller discount.
There's a thread on the US Powerseller board asking this very question, it's interesting the number of sellers who rarely post who are speaking up on that thread because they DO qualify.
I certainly don't defend all eBay policies, only the ones I think are good and even if they are only good for the site as a whole and not for me specifically.
An example would be the fee changes, they are going to cost me more but for a large number of sellers it will translate to a fee reduction.
I'm happy they are doing anything as it's depressing to hear so many people that I know say they are afraid to buy on eBay because all they ever hear about is fraud and bad service from sellers.
By the way, the "you must work for eBay" is a very tired comment.

Is it percentage of PS or all sellers?
There are 8 PS in my category "Cosmetic-subcategory", let's call them marketmakers, because they cover 90% of sales. I sure 2 PS from US do really well, have very reasonable shipping rates and mostly sell within US.
NO ONE has DSR 4.8-5.0, 5 sellers (including me) in range 4.6-4.7, 3 sellers have 4.5.

Thanks for your FB, Tim, and I shall leave you some as well.
It is unfortunate that sellers get rated on the time the postal system takes to deliver a package instead of how fast the seller actually ships (in my case, the very next day).
It's an ongoing issue with the Detailed Seller Ratings and the new changes that eBay is implementing (fee discount qualifications based on DSR) have already generated plenty of controversy, as the seller could ship within hours, have no control over the postal system and still get a "slow shipping" in the 5-star rating system.
I really appreciate your business and hope that, should you require any more Cox engines and parts, you will honour me your purchases. Have yourself a terrific weekend and 'til, hopefully, soon.
Xena look
And then left him awesome FB.
I see how easy it can be for one's stars to lose their lustre. The first 3 we have control over, the "shipping time" only to the point of mailing.
Hopefully, eBay will implement a note for buyers to differentiate on that point point before they vote.

Remember Ebay is making money with us on the DSR. Its in there best interest that there be less sellers with high ratings.

On the other hand, eBay will still have to maintain reasonable fees for a good (high?) portion of their sellers lest they migrate to other forums.
Market forces dictate that one can only raise prices so much before the graphs intersect and the opposite is achieved.
Time will tell... and market forces ALWAYS regulate buying and selling markets over time - no worries.

Flea markets and craft show have had their heyday and are not what they used to be either. There are still people who are successful but there are many more who are not. Some of the biggest shows that were extremely difficult to get into at one time are now out there looking for vendors. Many of the organizers have not yet smartened up to the fact that when people are coming out to browse and not to buy, that is not the time to raise their rents. I have seen many of them go downhill looking more like a flea market than a craft show.
eBay is becoming like them.

It is sad, but it is change, and that is inevitable. It's too bad eBay is losing their market monopoly. They had a good thing going here, and greed wrecked it.

Thanks Monique. I have attended that show many times and it is definitely a good one. I am not big on doing outdoor shows...we don't have a proper tent...and my hubbie works during the week and can't help me unless he takes some holidays. He does that so often now to help me with a show that I hate to ask him again. It is a tough show to do alone...a long way to the bathroom...lol...and other vendors get busy and can't always watch your stuff.
I had hoped that eBay would take the place of some of the shows and make me more money but the shows are far cheaper and you know up front the total you will be paying. I find the cheapest shows in little towns and villages reap much better sales than those in cities that are saturated with products. And the people are much more friendly at the little shows.

I think comparing ebay to Stalin is a bit over the top. At least Stalin had 'some' morals!!!
