This morning I cancelled a bid placed by a user who had registered a new Id only 24 hours ago. Tonight she asked me why and I replied:
Sure I can explain it. First of all let me tell you it has nothing to do with you. On May the 19th of this year Ebay changed it's policies in the following way:
After a purchase is made, the buyer can rate me on a scale of 1-5 on communication, description, delivery time and delivery price. The buyer can also leave a positive or negative feedback comment for the seller in the seller's feedback profile.
Previously I could have left a rating for the buyer as well,(positve, neutral or negative) detailing my experience. Now only the bidder gets to comment.
Which means that if a bidder buys an item, receives the item, and then comments that the item was not received, I would have that on my record, with no recourse.
Moreover, Paypal may also give the buyer their money back, and hold all my future payments for 3 weeks. It's just too dangerous a time on Ebay to do business with buyers who have just registered as they may not adequately understand the feedback system and it's ramifications for a seller.
We won't take bids from a buyer with no record unless Ebay changes the system back to one that is fair for both buyer and seller. Please email Ebay and tell them about your experience with us and the reason for it.
I wish you well and am sorry I can't sell anything to you or anyone else new on Ebay at this time. Kindest Regards,
PHIL
