Football Jersey Sizes for actual playing

I purchased an NFL Football Jersey for my 11-year-old son.  It was Reebok size M for 11 to 12 year olds.  Anyway, I got it as a practice jersey but it is too small to fit over his equipment.  He can barely use it for a shirt and he is very small for his age.  Any advice

Were the measurments the same as stated in the auction.

 It is a kids medium size 10-12 and 100% polyester.     From armpit to armpit it measures 18" and is 20 1/2" long.

This is a common problem with jerseys, especially with replicas.

Replicas are basically Fan Jereys, ones that would be worn to a game.

A jersey that you would have been looking for would be an Authentic, An On Field & a Game Cut Style. These jerseys make room for shoulder pads, however some positions have different sizes of pads so that must be kept in mind.

Can be very confusing as the jerseys may not mention that in the description.

To make room for pads measure his chest at the top of the underarm & add six to eight inches to that amount.

Bike sells authentic practise jerseys but are usually blank. Many can be found on eBay.

I take it they did not have the jersey measurements in the description.

I would hold on to the jersey & use it as a gift.

I don't think the seller has done anything wrong.

36" Chest seems right for that age demographic, but does not seem to have the shoulder room that would be needed to accomodate pads.

Buyer made an honest mistake.

There are now many different styles of jerseys now. Can be very confusing for the inexperienced.

Forgot to add there are also Authentic Practise & Authentic Walk Through Practise Jerseys.

Walk Through jerseys started showing up around 2005.
