Hello... We have a pair of nineteenth century English (?) sugar nips for which we can not identify the maker because there is no assay office mark.
The other markings are as follows. We have attached photos.
- lion passant in shield
- lower case date mark "b" in square
- duty mark of male figure facing right
- maker's mark "IL" in square

Deb - sorry I missed your earlier question which was 'how did you rate an invite to the party' My husband is Military and with the job that he has now, he has many friends in very high places, because of his computer skills.
Those same indivisuals just love Paul for the person that he is and for that reason plus the fact that he has earned some wonderful recognition for his work at Naval Headquarters, he was invited. I was invited because I built the budget for HQ and I got recognition for that.
They were celebrating the 75th year of Naval presence in Quebec City and there were some very important people there. For that reason, the Embassy decided to throw a party for the ploitical bigwigs that were there to help celebrate. There were 2 Ambasadors there, but I didn't get to meet them, as it was too crowded.
It was really fun and we had a nice time. It's very rare but Paul is very close with the Captain of the Canadian Fleet because they fish together and I am friends with the Captain's wife. It's all a little stuffy but quite lovely. Until the politicians start giving speeches, that is 🙂
