Have your sales been down lately?

Mine sales seem to go in spurts.. but overall they do seem to be a bit lower and when I check my traffic reports, they too show less visitors through, even though I have more auctions running. 😐

Well between Jan 29 and March 1st, I listed NOTHING, in solidarity with many sellers around the world, who were trying to get the attention of Ebay, in regards to the fee increases, and feedback changes.

This "holiday" resulted in 2 special listing days in February, and 1 cent listings in March as the company definitely felt the pressure, both in number of listings and stock prices.

I decided to hold a going out of business sale from March 5 to May 1st, but found when I started listing that our items were showing up at the top of search results.

This caused us to have way more site traffic, more bids and higher ending prices, with fantastic sell through.

Also we closed the losing store format, and started all our auctions at 99 cents. Combined with free gallery, the 99 cent starts have lowered our Ebay fees down to 7% of sales, previously they ran about 22%.

SO, our sales are way up, way up over before we took our "holiday". So much so, we've decided to stick around a bit and see what the effects of the feedback changes are.

In regards to that, we were feeling quite hopeless about that, until we stumbled upon a key component of the new feedback system, Ebay has not made public.

There is a great deal more protection for sellers against undeserved negative feedback than most realize, even more so than before.

You will really have to look over your Ebay page carefully to discover how that works. Ebay only wants buyers to THINK, they have free reign over the site, actually they don't, far from it.

So with protection from undeserved negative feedback, showing up at the top of searches, and fees down because we start at 99 cents only, there may be light at the end of the tunnel.

We've moved 235 items on Ebay in the last month.

We'll see.

And before you ask, no I'm not going to issue instructions on how the new system allows you to stop unwarranted negative feedback. The information is there. The determined and inquisitive sellers will find it. I might list the information on Ebay starting at 99 cents though.

Truthfully though, I won't post the info here, because Ebay will just pull it, or worse yet, close the loophole I found in the system. Or likely both.

Beleive me if you found a loop hole eBay is aware of it and if not, they will find it and fix it.

as for your Listing showing up top, so are mine since our score is very close, it's more the type of products
that your selling thats driving your sales I would think.

also the new feedback system is designed for new users not have the ablity to leave a neg. that fast.

also my sales are down in the past week just from us buyers it was 80% us 20% Ca Now it's the other way, I also beleive since I started to give feedback right after one pays thats why I am getting all the 0 or low scale ca buyers.

I have no idea why us sales dropped so much.

I am glad for you that your sales are up!

"out of the business sale" old trick but looks like still works, what I know...

Mine are about the same but I remember last year at this time my sales suddenly dropped so drastically that, being a new seller, I thought something must not be working right. I found it tough going last year from this time until sales picked up again in the fall.

So now tea is singing the praises of ebay's changes? Wasn't it only last month that he was telling us all to jump ship and degrading us for not seeing it his way?

Don't know what Happened, but this weekend was ok, had aprox. 22 sales and there are still 6 items with bids.

and now 80% were from the USA I think the weather has a lot to do with it, last week most of the States had nice spring weather so the were in summer mode, This weekend the Midwest etc. was indoor type weather so buyers get on there computers and out of boredom buy on ebay,

That what i figure

So now tea is singing the praises of ebay's changes?.... Ummmm no, we are still only listing 5% of what we used to list on Ebay. Still doing 95% of sales off Ebay.(at local auction houses) Hardly singing the company's praises. Just noticed that we are showing up high on searches and that starting auctions at 99 cents, works better than an ebay store ever did. Still prepared to pack it in after May 1st if necessary. But thanks for thinking of me though!!

Ebay could have saved us all a lot of grief by publicly announcing ALL the changes to the feedback system, not just the ones that affect sellers. Buyers are in for a few surprises too though.
