How can an item become unavailable?

I am new to eBay and bid on Ann item that had about 4 bids and three days left and it has suddenly become unavailable. Help! What gives..can a seller just change their mind and pull something that they have listed? Thanks

Yes they can.

A lot of sellers have their items listed on different sites

and if it sells on one site they pull listing on the other sites.

Some sellers figure the bids are not high enough then they also

pull the listing.
