I have agreed to a return. As I understand it the buyer has five business days to get it in the mail with a tracking number. This is the fifth business day.
Question: does eBay automatically close the return after the five days have passed, or do I have to contact eBay and get them to do it?

If you don't do anything the return will close in about 30 days. If you want to close it before that you can try phoning and ask if they will close it. I have read that they will close it right away in some cases and in other cases they may give the buyer an extension.
I have always just waited as it's possible that the item was sent but the buyer didn't upload a tracking number. If it was a snad rather than a regular return I might handle it differently. Each situation is different.

| tried phoning this morning - I left a call back. They called back in about half an hour and then I sat on the phone for 50 minutes waiting for an agent and finally hung up.
What a waste of my time - I think they just leave you hanging there hoping your phone batteries will die.
Any one know a good time to call or how long they take to actually get on the phone?
