Usually any transfers I make from paypal to my bank from Thursday to Saturday noonish are in my bank account by the following Tuesday AM. It is now Wednesday AM and I am still waiting (nada, nothing is there yet)...I know there was a Memorial Day US holiday on Monday but already they are two days later than usual? I have tons of parcels to ship and am NOT using all my personal funds to pay for them (have shipped some of the most urgent). Is this unusual for it to take up to a week to get funds from paypal deposited? Should I be concerned?

Set up a bank account IN the US with a US bank (NOT a US account with your Cdn bank). Funds will get there twice as quickly.

Gail - it's a bit unusual but not impossible. I had it happen once where my transfer transaction was marked 'completed' but the money was nowhere to be found in my bank account. Now....THAT was scary. But it turned up. Its just depends on the time of year. I am sure that everything is fine!

thanks - I'll give it another day or so before I start panicking - equally an annoyance because it happened at the beginning of the motnh where all bills are due - of course! I've never had it take this long before (and all transfers on paypal say "completed") - fingers crossed.

I'm tapping my fingers too. I was wondering if there was a delay because of the holiday, but here it is, Wednesday already.

Are either of you with Royal Bank because if so, it's probably on their end. On the news it spoke of problems with posting things for a few days (computer issues) and people weren't getting their pay cheques and bills being paid.

Yeah, I bank with Royal, and was there today. They're having huge problems with their provider, who is also the provider for TD, Montreal, and one other big one. They've all been down since Monday. Nothing is updating, but you can still do your banking. Just do everything as normal, it's just that you won't see your new total until they get it up again (probably Thursday).

Gail, get an account in the US, as Malc said. Many Canadian banks have US branches (mine, Royal Bank, has "Centura"). Get an account set up with them (it takes a while and some hassle but it's worth it). You can transfer your money right in, takes about 48 hours during the weekdays. And you don't pay the 85c PayPal fee or whatever it is, and you don't pay PayPal's horrible conversion rate to CND. Once it's there, you can withdraw it as US cash, or transfer to your own Canadian account (very fast). You don't pay PayPal's rate, you pay the bank rate, which is better.

(better yet, use a currency transfer service like xe.com.... but that's another story)
