This evening, I was searching for DVD's on .ca and something seemed strange. There are a lot of Canadian media sellers and their listings usually show up near the top with U.S. sellers but all I was seeing was U.S. listings. Then I noticed something I had never seen before.
My default search setting has always given me all listings that show shipping to Canada and, often, I will select Canada only. This time I noticed under the Sort menu, where I usually select "Price + Shipping: Lowest First", a box that said United States - USA with a drop down menu for dozens of other countries. I've never seen this before. If I select Canada, the listings change but are not exclusively Canadian sellers. If I select North America under Site Location in the left-hand menu, the listings change again.
I'm confused. This box doesn't show on .com. Has anyone else noticed this?

I'm trying to recreate this in my category of items but cannot. Is it possible for you to provide a screenshot? I'm curious to see what you're looking at.

I'm not real good with screenshots, but hopefully this illustrates it. I've shown both United States and Canada.

By the way, if I select North America under Item Location, I still have to select United States or Canada at the top.

I can't comment on when it appeared as I spend most of my time on .com but, it's tied to where the listed sellers will ship to. By default it shows up as a radio button labelled "shiping to" where you can enter a postal code.. If you sort by a criteria that does not involve shipping it disappears. The filter on the left sidebar is for where the seller/item is located . So in effect, between the 2 filters, you are able to specify the location of the item/seller first (left sidebar) and then filter in only those sellers that will ship to your location.
Cheers,
thD

Thanks thD. It's true that the button disappears if I do not select a search which includes shipping. However, I have been searching the same way for years and years and this new button which designates United States, Canada or any of dozens of other countries showed up for the first time yesterday. I find it annoying because I'm only able to see Canadian results when I select Canada and I'm seeing primarily U.S. listings when United States is selected. And, as I mentioned, even when I select North America under Item Location, I still have to select Canada or the U.S. The result is that I am not getting an accurate picture of items sorted by Lowest Price + Shipping. I use this tool many times a day, especially when I'm comparing my planned selling price to other sellers.
I have not changed my landing page or made any other changes to the way My eBay is set up. sequinsnvelvet has posted that she is seeing this change as well.
