So I bought a Wii package off of eBay with Paypal. The guy that I bought it from immediately shipped it out from Indiana to an eBay shipping center who then proceeded to mail it to Toronto (where I live). The problem is that the shipping address I put down wasn't complete, there was no apartment number. Thus, it was shipped back to him. It has been MONTHS now, and neither I nor he have received anything back. I purchased in July 2013, now it is January 2014. But I didn't just idly wait around for half a year.
1. I contacted eBay immediately after I realized it was being sent back to him. They told me to just send him an updated address, but eBay wouldn't allow me to do that, something about me and him trying to buy and sell outside of eBay.
2. I contacted them again, they said Oh wait! Since the seller used a Global Shipping program, I can redirect you to them. They told me that they can catch the package before it is sent to him and reroute it back to me to the updated address.
3. I waited and the package never came. I contacted them again and they told me that they have it, and that it will be sent off in a couple of days.
4. I waited again and nothing happened. I contacted them yet again and this time they said that I have to wait, its probably still in route or that it is lost in mail. At this point I was worried about it being lost but I held on cause they said that its probably still in route.
5. Waited again and with no luck. Called them again, this time apparently its been too long since the day I purchased it that it is not an eBay problem anymore. I'll have to find outside help like Internet Fraud or something. They sent me links and detailed information about the seller.
At this point, I realized they want me to open a case against the seller. But it wasn't his fault and I don't know what to do. If this was like a 20 dollar thing or something, I really wouldn't care but I spent 150 bucks on it. I really do want some kind of compensation. WHAT DO I DO?!??!?!?!
Solved! Go to Solution.

Update!!
I contacted ebay again and they found out it was the global shipping programs fault for not contacting me about the lost package. They are giving me a full refund of the product. So to other buyers, its never too late.

Not much you can do because nobody is going to compensate you for your error ..
It is a live and learn thing because nobody will do anything now it has been way too long and the mistake was yours not the selleror carrier or gsp centre ...
Sorry to hear of your luck but nobody is going to do anything for you as compensation is no given to people for there own mistakes....

The item was sent by GSP? So usually there are multiple tracking numbers, what happened to them? DId you followed them?
With tracking numbers, you know exactly where is the item (still in process with Pitney Bowes center, delivered, returned back to the seller, etc.)
Did the seller got back the item? The seller can still refund you or send you back the money if he's an honnest seller.
But yeah, eBay or Paypal won't help you, six month is way too much... (45 days for Paypal, 60 days for eBay)

There was a tracking system but once Canada post returned it to the next person, tracking stopped. I know its been a long time, It was just that I didn't wait for 6 months until i decided to contact them. I contacted them within 2 weeks of purchase. They would tell me to wait and then I would contact them again and they would tell me to wait again. They kept pushing until the time limit was reached and it wasn't there problem anymore. But thanks a lot for your help anyway.

Six months is really pushing it, but, go to the credit card you actually paid with. Paypal is only the processor.
Call the 1-800 number and explain the problem. Have your date, prices (including shipping costs and tax/duty) and transaction numbers handy.
Credit cards have longer deadlines than PP/eBay, but they do have deadlines, so act immediately. If you don't ask them, they can't say yes.
