The Ship time from canada to usa via letter mail has plummeted I got letters i Shipped back on the 13th of Dec Still Floating around not Delivered .

I also noticed the loss rate for canada post is very high via letter .. So far in the last 30 days i have 22 Reported Lost packages out of about 1400 pcs .

Hong Kong post on the other hand I have shipped 3700 Pcs and have Lost 1 So far that i know about .

Im finding hong kong post is delivering faster in some cases than canada post which is just pathetic .

My Dsr on ship time has been kicked in the teeth from 4.78 overall Down to 4.68 Hopefully it improves for January with Christmas Season over .

I found that last year as well.

I had a total of 4 packages damaged by Canada Post - all of then at Christmas.

From what I've heard, HK post is almost always faster than CP to the States, just like CP to Europe is almost always faster than CP to the USA - it's a combination of volume and our paranoid cousins to the south.

It'll settle down a bit now, hopefully.

Uhhhhh - just a little point.

If you are still running stuff across the border, I hope you're filling out the declaration for the $10,000 currency you're importing, if you're doing that much at a time. I think the gold and silver bars could be construed as currency.

I am with you. People spend billions on junk that goes straight into the landfill. Christmas is overrated.

Too many open disputes from international folks (via USPS). One of them was shipped Dec. 1.

CanadaPost ... oh, well. We all know ...

OK, somewhat unrelated question that Surplus made me think of.

Let's say I go abroad with 10 pcs. of 1 oz. gold maple leafs in my pocket.

Do they consider that $500, as it says right on the CAD legal tender value, or do they consider it to be XAU currency, and take 11,000~ish as the value, thus over the 10K limit ?

I think they'd value it at market rates, plas - our customs has the right to value any incoming item at fair market value, I can't see why they'd be any different.

Unless you're willing to sell $11,000 worth of gold to them for $500, that it - or maybe they would consider that an attempt at bribery?

It's not just CP - the UK boards are full of similar complaints about the Royal Mail.

Im Glad Christmas Is OVER

So far so good on my side Last items shipped were on December 14th and I received feedbacks from buyers on December 23rd.

I closed my store on December 11th and reopened on December 26th.

Still waiting for a lot of feedbacks. Seems that buyers forgot to leave them...

I managed to get away with only 2 questions and 1 purchase during the period my store was "closed" on vacation, and the one purchase could be sent by CP, so I got lucky.

I had purchases from eleven different buyers (about 30 items) while my eBay store was "closed".

eBay has a real problem with stores on "vacation" as their system simply does not work properly. From a manager at eBay: it is a "nasty bug".

Buyers can access store listings rather easily when a seller puts the store on "vacation" (I have found four ways to do it so far; there may be more). It would not be a major problem if eBay could prevent buyers from purchasing these items. However, eBay has elected not to go that route (and lose FVF).

ELEVEN??

I'd be roaring mad - I didn't get all my work done as it was and to have to fill 11 orders on top of it?

Well, if it makes you feel any better, the UK sellers have the same problem, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the .com guys dealing with it as well.

Im Glad Christmas Is OVER

I had 3 sells after I closed the store. All 3 sells came from watchers. I deleted all watched items and relisted them when I opened back the store.

2 of the 3 buyers decided to take the chance with not receiving their item before Christmas. I refunded the third one. Both items arrived on December 23rd...

I guess that's what I'm going to have to do next year - I figured I dodged a bullet this time, don't want to repeat the experience.

(You can tell by the above statement how much confidence I have that ebay's going to get right on this and fix it.:-D)
