Is it the time of year? The type of items I'm selling or just the luck of the draw? I've had a noiceable increase in the number of slow payers and non-payers in the last month. Is anyone else experiencing this same thing?

Absolutely!
I have filed for FVF on 33 items since January 1st; normally I have half a dozen per year. I have no idea why.

There seems to be a lot of newbies on now, I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

For the current month, about a customer out of 4 has been a non paying bidder. Hopefully things will get back on track quite soon.

Not any more NPB's than usual but the DOLT factor has certainly increased.
I don't use checkout, so many buyers seem unable to pay without that stupid pay now button.
Perhaps this statement in my instructions is not clear enough?
to use PayPal log into your PayPal account and click "send money"
When you get this (Trying to PayPal but I can't) from a newbie ok but when bidders with feedback in the hundreds, some even sellers as well, say this....well it's makes me want to strangle somebody.

My NPB's are a little higher than usual right now. And there seem to be lots of them that quickly become no longer registered users. But I think it is a result of higher sales and not taking the time to follow up with potential npb's after a week like I used to. I find it just isnt worth the time on the small items.
The only factor I'd really see affecting this would be if eBay were to launch a marketing campaign to recruit new users which are more likely to be NPB's.
