Insertion Fees

Why am I paying insertion fees when I have a store that allows me 500 Canadian and 500 USA listings. I never go over. Did I miss something?

Are there any listing enhancements you may have overlooked?

When eBay started giving store owners free listings I had a number of older GTC listings that still had add-ons (UK site visibility, Gallery Plus, etc.), and of course they were costing me money every time they rolled over.  I had to go back and manually revise them to remove the listing features (where I didn't want them) that were incurring the extra charges.

The other problem is that at certain points in every month, eBay's invoicing doesn't seem to properly reflect current discounts.  Pierre Lebel pointed this out at one time, and I found he was right -- a few days after my billing date the invoice automatically adjusted for the discounts and was correct.

If you're certain these aren't the issues, I'd try giving eBay a call.

Yes I understand what you are saying. No I have no extra perks but upon reviewing my invoice I see eBay has added a few, for example: I never use "Bold" yet a few of my listings suddenly show this feature; I also do not use extra photo packages, and lo and behold, several are suddenly using them. I'm getting charged shipping fees too on items that are exactly what eBay wants me to charge. This is a mess.

Probably time to grit your teeth and call the exceedingly helpful people at CS.  I hope you can get this sorted out -- I don't often scrutinize my account line by line, but this makes me wary.

The count for free listings start on the first day of each month......

Do your count... Canada versus US...  something might have gotten crossed....

"500 Canadian and 500 USA listings. I never go over"

Click on Selling Manager.  In the panel at right, near the bottom, eBay gives you how many listings were listed on eBay.ca and eBay.com.  Does it show more than 500 in either one of them?

Also, if using eBay's "free listings" promotions, it is quite possible that an item is listed in two categories - resulting in listing fees for the second category, etc...

Hello Pierre,

Yes, I have never gone over. This past promotion, I did nothing with it in order to see if that was what's been screwing up my account. I want to consider another possibility: does 500 free listings include what's already listed or 500 new?

The 500 free doesn't count what you already have listed..just new listings or when a listing ends and you relist it.

Okay, then I'm at a loss, I have no idea why, but I am being charged insertion fees that with a store I shouldn't be.

Are you being charged for the listings you just did in February? That would be really odd since you should have a full 500 free listings on Feb 1.

If you have GTC listings they do get counted as a free listing every 30 days when they roll over but unless you listed 500 of those near the beginning of January, that shouldn't matter.

"I am being charged insertion fees"

Where exactly do you see those insertion fees?

On your seller account?
