Is Ebay getting invaded by scams?

I have purchased some items from ebay last months, and I never received my items. Surprisingly, when I contacted the sellers, they never replied at all. One changed username ( at least 4 times in short period), another one just disappeared ( or probably changed name and email as well, so that he/she can keep ripping people off).

What do I do in this case?

Item identifications:

( White and black jacket. Seller: )

Tricks

They keep changing usernames, and faking "track numbers"

So, anything under those two jackets are scams!!!!! BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go to paypal's Resolution Centre and open Item Not Received cases. Don't close them until you are refunded. Also, there are deadlines. Do it today.

If you are too late for  eBay Resolution, go to Paypal which has a longer deadline for Disputes.

For the record, changing names while scatty is not really 'eBay illegal'. The account and feedback stay the same. Only the name changes.

In fact, if you put in the older name, you would usually be directed to the new name account.

If a seller 'disappears' his account should be marked 'Not a Registered User'.

While this can be an administrative problem, like not updating the expiry date on a credit card used to pay eBay fees, it usually means eBay has closed the account for being very very naughty.

When you open the Dispute, with either eBay or PP, say that the seller is NARU. This usually brings a fast refund.

There is a third level of protection from the chargeback program of your credit card, but since PP extended their deadline to 180 days, I suspect we will see that used less and less.

Still a good idea to back your PP account with a card though. For one thing, your (honest) seller gets paid faster and can ship sooner.

Is Ebay getting invaded by scams?

There is a Chinese business scamming people on ebay and online. Online they have several store s that all fall under the same umbrella such as rotita or chicnova. I have just been scammed by them. If you read up on rotita there are thousands of people who have been scammed. They don't answer back, they don't have real tracking numbers, no real phone number that works, and they change shipment dates. Much more than this too. So check the sellers feedback before you buy clothing from china.Chances are if the negative feedback is over 47 it's probably them and steer clear.

I hope you opened the Item Not Received Dispute as described above.

If the seller cannot prove delivery, he is required to refund your payment.

(Never accept an offer of replacement. It won't arrive either.)

If the seller does not refund promptly, eBay/Paypal will and go after him for their money. They have his credit card number after all. And there are other penalties.

And yes, some sellers will accept this as a cost of doing business.

I've just been scammed by two sellers, who stall you until it's past the deadline for reporting.  Then they are scott free.  eBay doesn't even let me enter negative feedback, if a certain amount of time has passed, and that's how these scammers keep their scores up, even though they don't send the products.

I just checked Paypal's Protection guarantee and it has a limit of 45 days.  No one seems to consider the fact that items from China take over 30 days to reach Canada at times. The scammers only have to stall us...tell us they're resending the item, etc., and by the time we realize there's a problem, it's too late to get help from eBay or Paypal....so frustrating.

That recently was changed to 180 days.

If you are turned down by PP for some reason, go to the credit card that I hope* you use to back your PP account. Most cards have longer deadlines, up to six months which may be why PP changed.

Phone the 1-800 number of the back of the card and ask the customer service clerk about a chargeback.

Remember that the clerk has no information about the transaction (unlike the PP and eBay clerks who have at least some) so you will need to have transaction numbers, dates, payments, currency etc handy for her to handle the refund.

*Using a credit card also pays the seller faster, so your purchase is on its way to you sooner. This does not affect Disputes. In fact, many new and questionable sellers have their customers' payments Held by PP until the goods are delivered.

"I just checked Paypal's Protection guarantee and it has a limit of 45 days."

It has been changed to 180 days.

https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/paypal-safety-and-security

"Purchase Protection covers all eligible purchases where PayPal is used, as well as payments made through our website. To take advantage of Purchase Protection, we require, among other things, that accounts to be kept in good standing and ask that a dispute be filed within 180 days of your purchase or payment."
