Thank you for your response. My concern is that ebay doesn't really understand the potential impact that this may have. As sellers many are making their own plans, such as using the time to revamp our stores/listings etc. Another of my concerns is if I close my store solely because of a postal strike or end all of my listings am I going to get strikes for ending the listings, when I start up again were am I going to fall on the ebay search engine ie no sales, no constant listings?

Side note of how real this is, my brother in law who is a Canada Post driver ( picks up mail at postal outlets takes to hub) just finished planning a 3 week vacation, out of province for the strike time. Like I said the postal outlet may be open but the mail isn't necessarily going anywhere.

If there is a "last hour resolve" then we're all good but "failing to plan, is planning to fail"

We share your concerns 100%, and we take this very seriously. I'm actually leading these efforts within the Canadian office. The only reason why I am not at liberty to share more details on what we will actually do is simply that we aren't done planning yet, and I can't announce before the announcement, so to speak. I am meeting representatives from many different teams to coordinate efforts and drive towards decisions, as well we have regular updates and discussions on this topic with trusted contacts at Canada Post. Whether we have to deal with localized rotating strikes causing delays for some, or a nation-wide lockout bringing all Canadian mail to a grinding halt, we will protect affected sellers as best as we can.

To answer your specific question: "Another of my concerns is if I close my store solely because of a postal strike or end all of my listings am I going to get strikes for ending the listings, when I start up again were am I going to fall on the ebay search engine ie no sales, no constant listings?"

Ending your listings shouldn't cause you problems, unless you have auctions with bids, those might incur early termination fees. However, you might want to simply put your store on vacation with option to hide your listings from search. That way, the only chances that someone buys an item from you is if they already had your listing on their watch list or if they somehow get the direct URL to the item page.

If you did end your listings and started listing again once the strike is done, you wouldn't see any difference in your items' search placement because only listings with multi-quantity are considered for their individual performance. With single item listings, the history of the listing isn't a factor. In fact, a newer listing might actually help, especially if the item was on the site for a long time.

Thanks. The reason why you see it 3 times is because they are 3 different listings for the same item. There is no way for the tool to differentiate between them.

When you say these were already migrated, were they migrated with the tool?

The only way you can click on items that were already migrated is if you change the view option to "Moved to eBay.com" or "Converted to CAD". This screen shot doesn't show me what view you are on but based on the Sold listing having the checkbox available, I think you're on "All". This is normal behaviour.

Sorry I wasn't able to respond yet. I have your emails and they are flagged for follow up.

Alternatively you can reach my colleague Felix at felixs@ebay.com. Felix is the guy keeping the master list of issues with the tool.

Hi ight.coin,

It's too early to tell what our recommendation will be, especially since even Canada Post doesn't know exactly what will happen yet. With that said, we will for sure encourage anyone to continue running their business as much as possible, and as stated before, we will protect those who do from suffering as a result of the Canada Post labour disruption.

Re: June 8th 2016 Weekly Session

I think there might be hope there, I will check a few more. I have a lot more available than I did 2 days ago

On top of the migration nightmare, I have a listing problem. I sell sheet music and very recently my options were only new and used with many choices of subject. Ebay has changed all that and now the only choice of subjects are vintage or Contemporary.  When they changed the subject they also changed the condition options  and now many of my sheet music says “Like New” which they aren’t. This is something ebay put in.  I only just noticed this the a few days ago and have no idea how to deal with this other than going through  over 1000 pieces and checking the condition of each. And if that isn’t bad enough, they are now charging me .10 to list each sheet as an auction.  I have an anchor store and am paying a lot of money just for that and still I have to pay extra for each sheet I list as an auction. It’s free as a BIN

I hope you can help with all of this

I feel like I won the lottery. I checked this yesterday and it still wasn’t giving me the option of clicking on a square. Now all my listings seem to be available even the ones I just moved are still available to do. Thank you so much for your patience. Hopefully you can help with my other problem

Hi merritt-motorcycle-salvage,

When you refresh, the tool re-pulls your list of non-complaint listings from scratch. Given that you have a large amount of listings, that pull takes time. This isn't due to any issues with the tool, it's a limitation coming from the eBay API which the tool uses to pull your listings. When we first launched the tool, it wold make you wait until the full list was loaded before showing you any listings. Now, it shows you the listings as they are ready, so you can start working right away. If you refresh the web page (not the Refresh function on the tool), you should se your numbers adjust.

With that said, I've added you to my list of tool issues so that the developer can check the database for errors in your items pull and/or processing. I'll let you know whether we find anything.

Refreshing the page reloads "ALL" when "ACTIVE" is selected. Using the tool refresh leaves me with 200 listings. Starting the tool leaves me with an in accurate number.  I am doing my best to be calm and collective but its not possible, but it is quite clear why I and every other frustrated seller on here is blowing their lids. The good til cancel time frame MUST be extended to compensate sellers for the that lack of functionality of the Migration Tool.

Are you going not responding to my remaining questions once again?

Hi, regarding the possible CP strike: I know you have said that there will be some help for sellers but will this include Cdn sellers who list in US dollars on eBay.com using light Packet or LetterPost without tracking. Need to know otherwise my stores will be closing for the duration as of the 24th at the latest.

Re: June 8th 2016 Weekly Session

In the May 25th 2016 Weekly Session thread I posted the following:-

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Raphael -  I want to bring another serious problem with Paypal labels to your attention.  When printing labels with two or more items only one item is printed on the label, but it is printed multiple times.  This has happened to me twice.

In the first occurrence the package had 2 items (a comic book and music cd).  When I printed the label the music cd info was printed twice and no mention of the comic anywhere on the label!  This error of course meant the item contents, values and weights were all listed incorrectly as only one items info was listed twice on the label.

I had this happen again today when I printed a label with two magazines and only the info for the second magazine printed on the label twice.

This is a serious problem that needs to be brought to the attention of the appropriate people ASAP so that it can be corrected.

This is happening to other sellers as well.  There is a thread in the Sellers section titled - A different problem with Paypal labels - that has more about this issue.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just wondering if you can update us on when this problem with paypal labels will be corrected.

Thanks!

Re: June 8th 2016 Weekly Session

Thank you for your very helpful and detailed response. It has been a big help in my own plan going forward. I do understand that you can't share every step with us. Knowing that ebay is diligently working on this possible situation before the fact is the positive info. that I was looking for, thank you.

The $0.10 charges you see are part of the most recent pricing update, which adjusted the amount of free auction listings for Anchor stores from 100 per month in any category to 1000 per month but only in select fashion and collectible categories. The categories where auction-style listings are free for you include:

  • Clothing, Shoes & Accessories
  • Health & Beauty
  • Jewellery & Watches
  • Antiques
  • Art
  • Coins & Paper Money
  • Collectibles
  • Dolls & Bears
  • Entertainment Memorabilia
  • Pottery & Glass
  • Sports Mem, Cards & Fan Shop
  • Stamps
  • Toys & Hobbies

Regarding the item condition on your GTC listings, this is part of the category updates announced in the 2015 Fall Seller Update. This update merged all the sheet music categories into two and all the listings in these categories were automatically moved to the most relevant new category based on their title. With that came the update to the item condition options. GTC listings have been left alone with their old condition until such time as the seller revised them. Please reach me by email about this, I have additional help I can provide.

I do respond to questions. With all due respect, there weren't any in your previous post.

I understand you are frustrated with this change. I have already commented on the extension to the deadline in a previous session and I don't have anything new to say about that for now.

If there are any remaining things you want to ask, please, by all means.

Hi vintagenorth,

The protection we want to put in place should be agnostic to which site and which shipping service type a seller used. It will be based on items' origin and destination.

I wish I could. Last I heard from PayPal was that they thought they fixed the issue back in May, to which I responded having received reports later than that date.

Re: June 8th 2016 Weekly Session

This is what I get when I click on the  Subscriber Discounts page.where it tells me to get the coupon

This page may have moved or is no longer available. Please try one of the following:

  • Check the Web address you entered to make sure if it's correct.
  • Try to access the page directly from the eBay Home page instead of using a bookmark. If the page has moved, reset your bookmark.
  • Enter keywords in the Search box and click the Search button. Or, browse through the many categories available at eBay.
  • If you are searching for a Help page, click the Back button on your web browser and select another Help page link or try entering different keyword combinations to find appropriate help topics.
  • Report this technical issue or view known technical issues.

Out of the whole eBay Canada product team, which I am part of, no one remembers Amex ever being accepted on eBay.ca. We could be wrong, but generally we know our site pretty well and we have been working here for many years.

I just looked at your account and all the credit cards I see there were Visa. You had PayPal as a selected payment method a few times, could it be that you had your fees paid on your Amex via your PayPal account?

If you look at my US $ billing account, you will see my Amex card (not Visa). It was entered on .ca. So no, my Amex was not used via PayPal (it is now for my C $ billing account, because I can't enter my card directly).
