March 20th Weekly Board Hour

Hello lady.stark,

1) I'm not sure I understand what you are saying. The same buyer wouldn't use BIN and place a bid at the same time, it's one or the other. If the buyer uses BIN and pays immediately, the listing is over and your fees will reflect the sale as it happened.

2) In this scenario, you wouldn't risk any bad feedback or low DSR because Buyer #1 would not end up in a transaction with you until a payment was made. There would not be any feedback from them on the 1st item.

3) Remember that for Shipping FVF is calculated according to the 1st domestic shipping price on your listing, even for international sales. If you offer free shipping within Canada, you won't be charged FVF on the shipping price for items sold to France, even though you do charge shipping there. Hence you can still issue a partial refund to that buyer after the fact and not get higher FVFs as a result.

Sorry Raphael, maybe I wasn't clear... here's some clarifications:

1- I spoke about 2 different items the buyer is interested in. Not just one: one is BIN, the other auction.

2- In this scenario, I meant the buyer will pay for the remaining items, but be angry for missing one because I couldn't send the invoice he requested.

3- I didn't speak for international purchases specifically, but for any purchase wether the buyer is located in Canada or US or elsewhere.

Raphael, sorry I guess I wasn't clear in my question but the settings I was refering to were my settings in Buyer Requirements under site preferences "Block buyers in locations to which I don't ship". These are the ones I have set and these no-ship zones actually appear under shipping details on the item that just sold to Italy.

BTW, I have read of other sellers who have experienced the same problem.

This could be due to two things.

If you set that Buyer Requirement recently, the rule wouldn't be applied to your existing listings unless you clicked the box that says 'Apply above settings to active and future listings' at the bottom of the page.

If your buyer from Egypt has on their account a primary shipping address that is in a zone where you do ship, they will be able to bid despite the block. They would just have to change their shipping address at checkout.

Raphael, here is the item number 160977503203 and take a look under Shipping and Handling and you will see my excluded countries there.

Thanks for the precision.

1) In this scenario, because the auction is not part of the forced immediate payment ruls, the seller could make any necessary adjustments on the auction item invoice in order to combine shipping.

2) Of course, that would be a possibility. In my experience though, people buying from countries that are several time zones away understand that they shouldn't expect an immediate response from someone when it's the middle of the night, giving you a low Communication DSR over that would seem unreasonable and should probably be reported.

3) My comment still stands. As low as your 1st domestic shipping service is on your listing, you will never be charged for more than that when your FVF is calculated.
