You know, of all the eBay glitches we experience, the missing gallery picture is the one that irks me the most.

I can understand a delay of a few hours during the last day of a promotion (like the one offered on .ca which ends today) but sometimes it takes 2 or 3 days for the picture to appear. And 2 or 3 days on a 7-day auction is h-u-u-u-u-g-e! You can revise and re-upload your pictures a hundred times, it won't make any difference.

Lately, when I've been shopping on eBay, or when I've been doing price comparisons, I see missing pictures all over the place. And I am less likely to click on a listing with no gallery picture even if the picture appears on the listing itself.

I wish something could be done about this recurring problem.

I have this problem on a few of my listings as well, This needs to be fixed ASAP. This is costing us all money, why should we have to pay for ebay's glitch when we have to take these listings down and put them back up again. I will be calling to talk to the technical issues department tomorrow to complain and hopefully be credited for those listings. I would suggest everyone having this issue to do the same although its just more time wasted, you would think from all the money they make from all of us that fixing a glitch like this would be top priority. In the end though its just making them more money so why would they fix it.

I just checked again, using Firefox, and all of the same gallery photos are still missing except for the photo for the new listing. All of the missing photos are on older listings.

I did not try the Bulk Edit but I did try revising some of them individually but nothing changed.

Unfortunately I will be out of town tomorrow and will miss the board hour. Perhaps someone else who is having problems with missing photos will bring it up there.

My fix for my listings with this annoying problem.

Edit the listing.

Delete the main image

Reload the main image.

Save.

Worked for the ones I've needed to fix.

My guess this a problem caused by the part of the eBay network that creates the thumbnail being too slow at times and an empty thumbnail ends up being associated with the listing.

Thanks for the tip. A number of different work-arounds have been offered but, as we all know, we shouldn't have to use a fix that takes up valuable time (after all, we need that time to process all our sales).

It's too bad the weekly board session was cancelled this week, but I plan to raise this next week.

Change the xxxxx to your userid

Another way for eBay.com only, if you can use the new enhanced loader, click on add edit photos and it will show you existing photos and you can edit them. Select the gallery photo and change the brightness the smallest amount possible. Then save the listing. This change in the photo forces a rewrite of the gallery picture and it should appear now. I have not tried this but I read that several sellers who tried this trick had their gallery photo fixed.

eBay.ca does not have the enhanced uploader so you can't use this trick here.

THANK YOU! I'm in the midst of revising and relisting hundreds of items and some were gallery pics were dropped. Your fix-it worked. I had to reload the gallery pic and then revise the item and if I revised while using the provided link as per their instructions, it fixed it even when ending the item and relisting it did not. I am bookmarking the link.

Ebay obviously DOES NOT CARE about fixing this issue. Surprise Surprise. I have personally reported it many times and each time I am told either that it is fixed (har har har), there is no record of any such issue (har har har) or that it has been reported and they are working on it (double hardy har har).

Yes, I greatly appreciate 'poco's' input, as I've noticed gallery pictures remaining blank sometimes for days, then suddenly re-appearing.

But isn't it beyond idiotic that it seems useful help always has to come from one of us sellers? This is not to denigrate 'poco' in the least, as I feel if it weren't for him, I'd still be struggling with many stupid problems and glitches on eBay.

Still, why was this simple "Fix it link" never brought to the fore and made clear as an interim solution by the eBay.ca staffer(s) at the Board Sessions? Of course eBay should simply fix the real problem (right, LOL).
