Money for feedback?

Hi, I wasnt sure how to word that question so I'll explain it here.

Last month I bought a cell phone on here, long story short, I got the phone and it was a fake. After filing a dispute and spending $71.60 to ship it back, the seller refunded me, case closed.

Ive been trying to get the seller to pay the return shipping, I know its not his obligation, but its worth a try...after all, I didnt ask to buy a fake phone. Anyways, once he found out how much it was, he backed out of the deal and I never heard from him again...until last night. One of the customer service reps msg'd me saying she reviewed our msgs and wanted to refund my shipping plus give me $15USD extra to compensate my troubles if I would consider removing the neg feedback, I told her how much it was and that I didnt need the extra money, just what I lost in shipping, I never mentioned feedback once. She msg'd again today and said if I would agree to remove the feedback she would issue my $71.60 to my paypal account. Idk what to do, this is a fair amount of money, but I dont want to jeopardize my account with ebay. I've been on here for yrs and have a good feedback score. I feel like I'm being bought, but it's such a large amount of money that I'm out becuz of this transaction. What do I do? I keep trying to avoid any mention of feedback but she keeps bringing it up. Please help!

Re:Money for feedback?

Hi dakota_gurrl .. $70. is a lot of money to lose but do not agree. That HK seller has a lot of bad feedback and were you to agree to accept a revision , i would bet, will never hear from again.

An honest seller would assist with return and then ask about feedback.

Yes poor feedback(especially low DSRs) can affect a seller's ability to list hence the incentive to revise but its a no win for you, no refund and loss of an honest feedback, to give others pause.

Re:Money for feedback?

China is the counterfeit capital of the world so in the future, stay clear of certain items coming out of that area.

Did you use the request money tab in paypal when asking for the shipping?

Do not remove the feedback. Other buyers need to know that type of seller they are.

Non paying buyers deserve unpaid item strikes.

I would report this seller to ebay.  This is fraud.  Then I would ask ebay to refund my purchase price + the cost of shipping and the cost of return shipping.  You can always open a case file.  It will not affect your feedback as a buyer.  Sellers cannot leave negative feedback for buyers, even if there is an unpaid case open against the buyer.

Re:Money for feedback?

Thanks so much for all ur replies. I msg'd her back and told her that I felt like she was trying to bribe me and that it's against ebays policy, and if she was really trying to fix this mistake that she would just return my money with no mention of feedback becuz that is up to me if I choose to revise it or not. She took a couple days but has just msg'd me to say she would like to refund my shipping costs...whether it actually happens or not, we shall see, but at least I finally got a reply that wasn't asking me for something.

I would never remove my feedback for them, I got screwed on the deal, as did my son, it was his Christmas present! I was more or less trying to find a way to make her think if she gave me my money that I would change her feedback, but I was trying to do it without making any direct references to feedback becuz I do like my ebay account and wouldnt jeopardize it for her. I dont want other ppl to be ripped off the way I was, this is why I chose to spend all that money to return it instead of selling it to someone in my city etc...I can't rip someone off (knowingly) and still sleep at night, I wasnt raised that way.

Anyways, thanks so much for all ur answers, it was a great help! I will update IF I ever see my postage back.

Happy ebaying!!  =))
