Never received my item .....

I was winning bid on an item.   Provided seller with a shipping address that I have used numerous times.   For some reason the USPS won't accept packages the way they used to at this small post office (something I didn't know at the time)   Package was shipped and returned immediately.    I opened a resolution case after the seller would not respond to my emails.   After attempting to have eBay get involved and get my money back, eBay replies with:

eBay Customer Support comments:
We received tracking information from the seller that shows the item was delivered to your address.
Final decision:
A refund won't be issued for this case

So, I am just out close to $500C for this item?!?!    Shipper gets it back to sell again and owes me nothing?!?

What can I do next?!

Never received my item .....

I wouldn't have bought from them based on their feedback. Did you notice in one of the negative feedback they replied "Call us at this number? 866-843-0262.  You could call them. Anyway, contact eBay again and direct them to their negative feedback. One says that a fake tracking number was used. Plus, you can go through your actual credit card used to get a refund. PayPal is just an intermediary. Contact your credit card company and tell them it was an unauthorized charge and they will refund it.

Thanks jg ......it wasn't on the driver.    I had no issues with the driver.   It was on the rangefinder.    Seller had zero negative feedback ......guess I will see what the cc company says if no one else has any other suggestions.     The seller can't just keep my money and get the item back because of a shipping/address issue.

Does the tracking information show that the seller received the item back? If so, you should phone ebay and appeal.

Tracking info does show that the shipper received the item back.  I appealed to eBay and my appeal was denied.   So apparently, if you provide an address to a shipper that won't accept your package, the seller gets your money and gets the item back and you as the buyer get the shaft.    I think it's bull**bleep**!!

What does that mean?  Is this an address different from your regular mailing address?

Again, what exactly does that mean?

 

You also purchased a rangefinder last night.  Was it to replace the one not received or a totally different item?

Pierre, I provided a shipping address to a US location (small town bar) that accepts packages to save on international shipping. (I live in Canada about 20 mins from border). In the past, packages that were sent ups or FedEx were delivered to the bar and anything that was sent usps was delivered to the local post office and held for pick up. Recently the lady at the post office "changed her policy" and will not accept packages the way she used to. She now requires a US PO box. So, my item was returned immediately. I have contacted the shipper before and after I opened a case in the resolution centre. His response was the item was delivered to the address I provided and that there would be no refund or that the item would be shipped to a new location. Initially I contacted him and offered to pay return shipping and new shipping to my home address in Canada or just refund my purchase price less return shipping. I never even got a response. Ebay denied my request for a refund as well as my appeal on the same grounds. Item was shipped to address provided and no refund. I will see if PayPal can do anything but for now I've chalked it up to a bad experience. All the years of shipping packages to the border town and saving on freight have bit me in the a$$. I bought another rangefinder and had it shipped by USPS to my home Canadian address.

So the first problem was that the informal delivery system you had arranged changed and you did not know.

The bar would not accept packages any more.

The Postmistress may have been 'reminded' by her supervisor that PO boxes are the only way packages can be held for customers. I'm amazed that  after 9/11 and the Unibomber, she was willing to accept parcels as "general delivery' at all. The legality of her earlier actions are questionable. Actually, she's lucky still tohave a job, what with US paranoia about terrorism.

 

Do contact the seller again. Explain politely the problems with your now defunct US delivery system and ask for a refund of the cost of the item.

If you have the (Signature?) Confirmation number for the return, give him that.

He may just be waiting until he does get the item back. If you have been pushy about a $500 refund when he sees "delivery" and doesn't have the item, he would be well withing his rights to refuse to refund.

Return parcels take longer than primary deliveries. They get no priority and can take over a month to get back home.

Thank you for your detailed post.  I now have a much better understanding of what actually happened.

Since you have not received a reply to your email message, have you considered calling the seller.  Often a solution can be found when talking "face to face".

 

You indicated that tracking shows the seller did receive the item back.  When was that?  Have you checked if the seller relisted the item on eBay?  Is it possible the seller, assuming he has the item, is hoping to resell it to get the money to refund you (after shipping expenses)?

Thanks for the replies.    I cannot contact the seller through eBay because of the denied case and appeal.   I have sent in a request to eBay to get a phone number for the seller but they have yet to provide it.     I'm guessing the seller doesn't have to provide it ........looks like I'm just out the money, which I don't agree with.
