Feedback is important but why make it more complicated?

FB for shipping charges? Exactly! eBay wants us to incorporate the cost of shipping in asking price to charge us more for final value fee....

It is anonymous. However, if you had 5 stars and then a new FB appears and suddenly you have a little less than 5 stars it's pretty obvious who nailed you.

When you have just over 10 and someone leaves a low enough rating to affect the average, you know its them if you check often enough to see if the average changed after each buyer left fb. Its a lot easier to tell displaying it in 10ths then it was on .uk in halves. Once more have left fb single ratings won't be enough to affect the average.

Apparently that buyer told the seller they left a 4 when the seller asked about the average falling.

Somebody on the FB board was upset as a seller to whom they had given 4 stars on shipping retaliated by giving them a negative FB.

Is it a coincidence... Ever since they introduced this new feedback rating system, my feedback has stopped alltogether! I'm still shipping the same number of items every weeks. Buyers probably find all this questions too time consuming and just don't bother with leaving ANY feedback. Any similar experiences out there?

Well if read the previous link, you'll see this seller is apparantly experiencing the same thing. by the way, i found her guide extremely well written and new points that i hadn't even considered, i especially liked the issue about showing the item description and price for privacy reasons...i hope ebay listens up...

Yes 😞 ... now when you mentioned it... yes X-( I received only a few feedbacks in last couple of days not even a half of usual amount... well they gave us 20c listing day to give us something else to think about ]:)

I noticed a decline in # of feedback coming in at the same time that sales started to decline, which was before they implemented the new system.

Ahh! I got my first 10 FB in and my stars all showed up with an almost imperceptible touch of gray. I have low shipping, small handling fee plainly stated, great communication and most have been surprised at how fast they received their goods. And not one has ever complained about the quality or description. Nobody has asked for a refund ever.
I am attending "eBay University" in Toronto this Saturday. It should be interesting! But I hope they don't try to sell me something! I have already had one person ask for a deal. He probably scanned my Feedback first to see what things have been selling for lately. So I will be looking for "deals" in auction tools other than from eBay.

I just got another feedback and it is very easy to see what they left when you get feedback one at a time. You can see the gray moving over. So how anonymous is the buyer's rating now? And I gave that customer A++++ service.

It will only be like that in the early going. Once one is well past 10 any single rating wont be enough to move the average. Going to tenths did make it a lot easier to tell then when it was halves on .uk

I have found that in the last 14 feedbacks left for me by customers 12 of them took the time to fill out the detailed ratings, and the other two just left me a positive, with no detailed rating. So we see already that some buyers won't bother to participate.

The people are lazy and WILL NOT got to the Canada Post website to check the prices. They will simply think you overcharge.
May be you are right when you are selling items for $5-10 with weight up to 0.5kg.
But I'm selling items up to $800 with weight more than 2 kg. Trust me! Customers start to check your shipping cost!!! And will tell you how much it cost to ship from USA, UK or Europe.
I very agree that Canada Post is one of the expensive company to use with the worse service!!!

I lost about 15-20 buyers from Australia because Canada Post just charge you $45 for parcel with weight more than 1.001kg plus you can't insure you parcel. If you will try to use Express it will cost you about $100 when USPS charge for the same parcel and service about $35US and UK-18GBP.

There's a thread on another board which refers to a seller with free shipping who has 4/5 stars for shipping cost ..... which pretty much says it all. It's nonsense, ignore it and move on.
