Feedback is important but why make it more complicated?

FB for shipping charges? Exactly! eBay wants us to incorporate the cost of shipping in asking price to charge us more for final value fee....

I don't like it X-(

No body ever asked me if I want to receive feedback for shipping time... the feedback is for Canada Post not me

exactly. I NEVER ship late, but occassionally items do take what I consider to be a long time to arrive at a buyer's address. I cannot help that - I wish I could.

"Shipping time" is the curelest of all the new feedback categories. Second is 'communication', IMHO since some buyers are quite needy and some aren't yet we would have to over communicate with every single one in order to fend off the needy ones leaving bad feedback.

argh.
oh well - on the bright side I don't think buyers really care. Lots of sellers have lots of negs and they still get plenty of buyers.

Exactly!! I wish I had the name and phone number of the MORON who decided buyers should publicly rate shipping times. Whoever you are, you are a MORON. Shipping ratings belong to CANADA POST or FEDEX or UPS or whoever the courier is! Shipping ratings, DON'T belong on the feedback page of any seller, who is paying fees and padding the pockets of Ebay's owners and shareholders. Again I repeat, whoever thought of that is a MORON!!! MORON, MORON, MORON!!

This is the most idiotic new idea that I have seen on EBay.
If a Buyer is going to be able to throw darts to pick which numbers to rate me on then I would like the same privilege. Almost all of my Buyers are fantastic however if EBay insists on this STUPID...STUPID system then it should be a two-way anonymous street!

I would like to be able to rate them based on how long it took them to pay, whether they read the TOS etc.

Frankly I think it is a total waste of everyone's time and look how much mental and physical effort we are all putting in just talking about it.

With any new feature there are always going to be some for and some against but here and on the US Boards the tide is SO strongly against that surely someone in the Ivory Tower should be sitting up and saying..'Gosh, maybe we made a mistake and should stop this nonsense now".

I do my shipping every morning... I have to get up at 6 to do it before my kids wake up ... everything is shipped 24 hours after the payment is received... how much faster do I have to do it to have 5 stars? Because now I have 4.5... o my I'm not fast enough... I have to start shipping 3 times a day !!!!
Oooo and my shipping charges.. yes I'm too expensive... I charge flat shipping to States 6.99 while actually small air pocket cost 6.20... yes the 80c for packaging !!! I'm reach !!! I made millions on the overcharges !!!
Communication... I answer every email, I send "thank you" email after the payment is received... then email confirmation that the parcel was shipped... then I reply to every email asking when was it shipped and why is not there yet on the next day... but no this is not good enough... I have to start communicating more because I have only 4.6

I just looked at your stars as well as some of the others and yours...like most of us......have wonderful comments so just where are we FAILING!

Back in the old Corporate world when we had an annual Performance Review we were told if we were not doing an adequate job in certain areas and provided with statistics to prove the point but most importantly we were given an opportunity to respond in writing to our Review.

After all this time of EBay stating ' We are just a venue' they are beginning to act more like employers but we are not given any hard data to prove why we only got 4.7 stars. We are also not given any opportunity to respond because we just don't have a clue where it's coming from.

Judging by the comments from Buyers it can't possibly be coming from them!!!!!
I can only pin one down...I had a Buyer from Hawaii. I shipped the item three hours after she purchased and e-mailed her and told her that Surface to Hawaii had been taking up to a month so please be patient. She left a positive but made a comment that it took a month to arrive! Unfortunately that was on May 3rd so she gleefully filled out my stars and obviously gave me low numbers on Shipping time.

After my last two feedback my score for shipping cost went 2 points down :_|
those are good... very good feedback... customers are happy with the products and shipping time but yes I have charged them for shipping... so they are not happy...

You see !!! how unfair the new system is ?!?!?!
otteropp shipped 3 hours after payment was received, buyer paid for cheapest delivery option (ground from Canada to Hawaii)and then she is not happy because shipping took 1 month....

I went to eBay University in Toronto today. I had the opportunity to ask Jason Miner what eBay was going to do about the new feedback system because none of the sellers like it. I also said I think it is unfair to be rated on shipping time over which we have no control. He replied that they are "watching it". I also asked Marsha Collier who was the instructor for the Beyond The Basics class. (She was great!!) She just shook her head and said she didn't know, that we would have to wait and see. I had the feeling she doesn't like it either. Surprisingly, I was the only one in our room who brought up the subject. I talked to a rep from Canada Post. He said there is no plan to provide tracking with light or small packet or to reduce fees for shipping small packet within Canada. And the next biggie--NO MORE PRIVATE LISTINGS will be allowed by eBay so there will be no way to hide prices in our feedback.

That is great that you brought up the subject.. they keep ignoring us here but I'm sure they will have to report your comment...

They are watching it.... I hope there will come with something positive from the watching...

No plan to provide tracking with light or small packet or to reduce fees for shipping within Canada- THIS IS ONE BAD NEWS !!!!

So you hopped back and forth between classes then did you Judy? Smart! When and in which class did they say no more private listings? That just sucks! Who said that?? Jason or Marsha?

I'm shaking my head. Makes no sense! For personal items like lingerie for example, many bidders want those items private. And what about adult items? That's just dum! I've done that for high ticket items to protect the bidders from scammers. But then isn't a private listing redundant if they have this anonymous bidder crap anyways?? Maybe that's why? Sorry. Rambling a bit.

Actually I stuck to one class, but when we came back from lunch Jason was heading back too. He just turned and asked how things were going. It was meant to be!!
It was Marsha who told us about the no private listings. She just gave the facts which doesn't mean that she always agrees with them. I really like her! She had some great advice and is very approachable.
It does seem strange that eBay is making everything so visible now when they seem to be fanatical about protecting privacy in other areas. And I have to admit that I don't know much about "anonymous bidders" or how they go about it. Still lots to learn!

I really enjoyed that about her too! She wasn't a robot spewing company line. I liked that and I told her so. My group was taking long on smoke breaks so I must have missed that. I left them outside after a few breaks.

Did you read my post to you in the flights thread? I was the one who spoke out about the Seller Protection Policy at the back. :^O Wish we could have met. 🙂 It would have been nice to put a face to a name.

I wish I had known you would be there! I would have loved to meet you too. You could easily have missed the part about the private listings even if you were there because she didn't dwell on it. I was sitting at the front. You may have heard me ask her at the end what she thought of the new feedback system. I think she didn't want to say too much about it at that time. If you were the one on the stage after the class talking to her you would have seen me come up and thank her. And I did hear you talk about the seller protection thing. Funny how paths can cross! I'll go and have another look at the other thread.
