Feedback is important but why make it more complicated?

FB for shipping charges? Exactly! eBay wants us to incorporate the cost of shipping in asking price to charge us more for final value fee....

I can't get hardly anyone to pay or leave feedback lately. Maybe I should start requiring buyers to pay immediately, but then it messes up combined shipping.

kasha-i just remembered something-the amount of feedback left for me increased all of a sudden right after stating right in my description page that i reciprocate all positive feedback left...maybe you can try that if you don't already have it. i don't have long disclaimers either-i try and keep them as short and noticeable as possible as people find it hard to read lots of info, and retain it. try that if you haven't already..

I sold on another id with substantially higher S&H for same type of items...and have ended up with better stars on the high shipping one. Go figure.

So after a couple of months how's people's feedback scores doing?

Ours have stabilized to 4.6's on the shipping portions and 4.8's on the others...have been like that for a good month & a half now and I'm guessing that is where it will stay. Just wondering if others have experienced the same or not.

The only ones I care at all about (description & communication) are doing just fine. The ones that don't mean anything to me or my buyers are also fine as far as I'm concerned.

The first two are waffling back and forth by a tenth, the second two have been unchanged for weeks.

Once you have a few hundred star ratings it's going to take a lot of really bad transactions to cause any significant movement.

No need to call me a hater Cello, especially when you don't know me. I just didn't like the fact that I was set up and had proof and eBay still did nothing about it. As far as the new feedback system I do hate the shipping rating...............how does the buyer know what went into it? Winning a $50 dollar item for 1 cent and then giving a bad rating for the $15 shipping fee is just giving the seller a kick in the you know what.

Imobf I wasn't being specific about anyone, was just a little attempt at humor hence the :-)...My apologies if it came across that way. Believe me I understand your frustation, especially since it was your first neg and that hurts enough as it is, let alone it being an unfair neg.

But don't worry, your ratio is still 303 positive experiences to 1 negative, you're doing a fabulous job. Anyone with a half working brain will see that, as for the ones with less than half their brains working...well who needs them anyway:-)

The whole FB 2.0 system is flawed. I ship items from three different sites and the ratings are like night and day for all three. Two have lower ratings than the other. My shipping time is the same, the system being used to ship items is the same, and the price is the same for all three. Ebay FB 2.0 is flawed and does not work as it was intended. Positive FB's are great but ratings do not reflect the comments left by buyers.

When does FB 3.0 come into play where I can rate the buyer.

Here is a good model.

Did the buyer pay for the auction on time.
How many days did I have to wait to get payment.
Did I have to email the buyer a number of times to get payment.
Did I have to send the auction to UPI to get payment.
Was the information correct in the buyers accounts (ebay and paypal)
Did the buyer communicate properly or in a timely manor.

Before the new FS I was getting about 50% feedbacks from all sales... now is way bellow 20%...
That is real sucks!

And how about custom's???? When they hold our packages for inspection, is this our fault? And we can't even leave feedback explaining this. I hate this new FB star rating, this will really hurt my business and probably others. I'm afraid that if this does start hurting my business, I will have to just end it all. Another thing, I just checked my total monthly sales on ebay, 943.00 and it cost me 367.00 with ebay and paypal, it's getting so you cannot even profit anymore. I don't know, I am really starting to wonder if this is worth it.

Hi. I would like to put a positive spin on this topic.
I like this new system and believe it has helped me with sales out of my store. I have sold some items where I was asking or willing to accept a higher price than my competition. All parties had 100% or close feedback although my star ratings were a little higher. I was able to make the sales by attracting the customers, and made a little more profit thanks to the new feedback system.

There's no way that the star system is hurting your business. You have an almost perfect rating. Your low sales for last month is probably due to what a lot of us are going through.... it's just been slow lately on ebay.

That seems excessive. Perhaps you need to review your business model.

I have to agree with Anne. I've said it before in previous posts, if the numbers aren't adding up then it's the business model that needs to change. It's not the easiest thing to hear, but better to hear it and make some changes than to continue busting ones butt trading 4 quarters for a dollar.
