Is it for everyone or by invitation?
07-25-2014 03:01 AM
I got an email, yeah!

Once again, I received no email from eBay, no message in "My Messages".
However, checking my Selling Manager, I see I am eligible for the 5,000 "free listings".
It is not the first time it happens: no notification yet eligibility to the promotion.
Now, if you check your "my eBay" or "Selling Manager" on eBay.ca, you will most likely find only 5,000 free listings on eBay.ca, if you check your "my eBay" or "Selling Manager" on eBay.com, you will most likely find only 5,000 free listings on eBay.com
Do not worry! If eligible, you are eligible to both. I know as I tested both this morning!
The 5,000 free listings will appear as soon as you use one on either or both sites.
I wish eBay would get their act together and properly advise by email and through "my messages" all sellers eligible to a promotion. The current situation is totally ridiculous for a company that size who pretends to be a leader in online marketing.

I also have the promo active but have received no notifications at all.

I'm trying to list with fix price got charge $0.20, but it is free with auction + BIN.
Is anyone have some problem?
The announcement said list free with fix price or auction, but why I got charge with fix price listing?

"Fixed are for only some categories."
07-25-2014 08:44 AM
I see, fix price is not for my category.
Thanks, did not read the detail befor.

For full details of this invitational promotion, please take a look at:

As always, please read very carefully. Then read again for the "stuff" you missed the first time!

I agree. Once again (for the umpteenth time) no message, no email, but the promotion popped up on my seller Summary page today.
I'm getting used to just checking to see when helpful "skylarstuff" lets us know on the discussion board -- better marketing than eBay!

I wonder why they are trying to kill fixed price in so many categories and never offer fixed price specials in them any more. I definitely prefer fixed to auction in coins, currency, stamps and other collectible areas but Ebay seems to be killing it as far as fixed price goes.
I gather it also makes no difference if you have a store as far as no fixed price goes.
Wonder why if auctions are so dead that they are pushing them in the collectible areas?

All of my listings are in the restricted categories and it has been a while since we had a fixed price special.
I refuse to pay for a more expensive store as sales are way down in the last 2 months so I would have to redo all 2000+ listings as auctions, lose best offer and values, as well as redoing all the listings with multiple quantities. And then just do auctions where sell through is awful. My sales barely warrant a basic store any more.
If there was an easy way to duplicate all listings and have 1 as auction and 1 as fixed that would be great but I have not found an easy way to do this

It's fairly easy to use bulk edit to list auctions using FP listings in your unsold or sold lists. You will only have to change the listing from FP to an auction and put in a new starting price. Changing to an auction will automatically take off multiples and best offer option. Of course if you have multiples of the same item you can have both FP and auctions listings.

It's stupid how for the fixed price it's still excluding collectibles

Ebay is trying to revive auctions, as that is slowing dying. By forcing people who list in certain categories, to list only auctions during promos, they think that might be the magic bullet. This theory may help increase auction listings, but at the expense of losing money from sales they used to get from all of us who had fixed price items during promo sales. Its too bad that the people who are making these major decisions going forward do not themselves sell on Ebay. If they did they would see that this decision was a sales killer.

The easy way to do this is use turbo lister. Not only can you save all of your listings in both formats ie auction or fixed price. You can also save both formats for Canada and USA listings So you could actually have 4 different saved files. 2 Auction and 2 Fixed one of each for Canada and the other 2 for USA. It takes me only minutes to make massive changes to prices, shipping and length of time.
