New page view?

Whilst perusing listings being logged into .com I clicked on one of our listings and the look was totally different, replete with the following message:

Attention Seller: This is the new listing page. If you see any technical issues, please send us a comment. (Buyers will see this view in June)
View our tutorial|View listing in previous version|Send us your comments

Has anyone come across this? Kind of neat the new layout.

What I did notice is that eBay removed all payment methods other than Paypal:_|

They removed all payment methods other than the approved ones a while ago. Only .ca allowed them but if you sold to US then the other methods were blocked from being seen on .com. That's not new.

.ca will be disallowing non-PayPal payments shortly too. You better get busy at changing them or you'll be in violation and have your listings removed. You've got to take the references out of your Payment Details as shown on the bottom of the listing as well as any text in the body of your description.

The look for the listings is new yes. Right now only sellers see their listings like that and a few buyers. As of June 1st I believe, all buyers will see the new look.

We are going to leave our payment terms as they are until eBay literally forces us to remove those references.

Even today, some of our competitors still have paper payment references in all of their listings (all of them on .com). Seems that enforcement is not eBay's priority.

Wasn't there a successful class action against eBay for discriminating other payment methods ? Perhaps not in Canada, but somewhere was.

eBay lost in Australia when they attempted to force PayPal only on all payments.

They learned a lesson which explains why eBay now restricts payment to "online payments" which includes payPal and others. The Australian problem had to do with the forced exclusive use of PayPal.

On the new page, one important link is missing for sold, or ended listings: RELIST.

Many sellers, at times, prefer to use RELIST to "sell a similar item" as ended or sold listings which have been relisted have a link to the new listings.

The "relist" function now only appears on unsold listings. Another case of Big Brother thinking he knows better! 😞

The link to view the new page layout has been there for almost a year. The page itself has changed somewhat in that time. It's pretty much as it's going to be now since it will be the only view shortly.

We're soon going to have to redo all our photos to provide a white background, just like The River.

Count on it.

Only a TINY percentage of buyers are seeing the new page layout. They are increasing the testing that but still it only applies to a few small number of buyers.

They're also going to be re-doing the Selling Manager page next month.

Do you really think that eBay will force us to change all of our photos?

It's one thing if you have 50 listings, but another if you have thousands.

I think I would definitely have to call it quits if that happens.

Over time, I think there will be pressure to do so.

ebay is moving towards a presentation like The River has. The River INSISTS that you have a white background - they even require you to provide a URL with existing pictures if you're applying to be a seller so they can look at the level of professionalism in the pictures you've taken for other sites.

So, I would suggest that any new pictures use a white background from now on. I know I'm looking at re-doing mine, but, with File Exchange, I'm not expecting the changeover to be much of a problem. -------------------------------------------------------------------

I see also when viewing the new page view that the " about ME" link is gone. Anyone know if that is just temporary?
