Hi everyone,
We're back this week - please post your questions here and we'll be back at 1pm!
Thanks,

GSP program is ripping off canadian ebay buyers to the point that we have no choice but to not buy from GSP sellers - sellers should have the option to opt out of this program on their items if canadian buyers request it (even if item is initially set up with GSP).
Please do something about this asap, ultimately it will hurt your sellers and ebay overall.
Thank you

Strange situation... What do I do? I have never had this happen before (and I've been around awhile)
My item #400613837804
At this moment, it shows as an active listing.
However, I received a Paypal payment for this item. (Last night Wed 12:51am).
Also received a Paypal payment received email.
AND - The payment shows in my Paypal account.
HOWEVER..
--- no email from ebay "Your ebay item sold"
--- sale not showing in MY EBAY SOLD page (or in Selling Manager.)
--- And, as I mentioned, the listing itself shows it is an active listing (IE: available, not sold)
SO. WHAT HAPPENED HERE? Any explanation?
And, more importantly, How do I handle this? End the listing, and ship it to the buyer?
Or wait for ebay to fix it? Can they even do that?
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

I am getting very tired of non-paying buyers, I always pay my sellers asap after the listing ends so why can't others? I have one non-paying buyer with about 40 feedback over a week late in paying and ignores all my messages...I just sold another item yesterday in which the buyer with over 400 feedbacks just had to outbid someone else but now hasn't paid either and is so far ignoring my emails....
I find that selling on ebay is a no win situation for me...I have better luck on kijiji and no fees to pay! I hate to say goodbye to ebay but I feel my time here is nearing its end.......................

Hi 177e76,
We've been listening to Buyer feedback, and there are a couple different threads currently for these questions and concerns where eBay staff are fielding these. In the meantime, sellers definitely have the option of opting out on both an Account Level, as well as the Listing Level. In case you're interested in forwarding this Help page to sellers: http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/shipping-globally.html#opt_out
Thanks,

Hi bookelph.
Thanks for reporting this. I have never heard of this happening. We are investigating to see if we can find out what happened with this particular transaction. In theory, if this buyer has bought from you before, they might have had your PayPal payment address already, and paid you directly from PayPal without commiting to buy on eBay first. But it seems unlikely anyone would go to all the trouble to do that.

Unlikely.
The Paypal email looks exactly like the emails usually sent following a sale, with link to the ebay item, etc.
Also not a previous buyer; I keep a database of buyers, and no transactions with this person.
Not sure if that helps. .

Hi Kalvin,
I have an ongoing issue concerning eBay warning me about "keyword spamming" and "brand authentication". I hold copyright to the antique patterns and garments I sell. Although I realize I'm in a very unique niche in being both producer and seller, the east Asian CS people just don't seem to understand the concept of public domain, copyright and what is and isn't keyword spamming. I spent over half an hour on the phone a week or so ago with two different east Asian CS reps, one of whom was supposedly a 'manager', and neither had any grasp of the issue.
I've sent an email to Raphael just over a week ago, but have not heard back. My follow-up email to him apparently didn't go through because his email account has changed or is gone. Since he resolved the problem previously and is familiar with the whole background, I'm wondering if there is another way to contact him, or if someone else could assist. I must stress that CS people in east Asia I spoke to were clearly out of their depth completely on this subject.
To explain some context:
Regarding "keyword spamming" -- Essentially the issue is that eBay thinks the words "Titanic-era" and/or "1912" and/or the word "era" are somehow forbidden, even if, as I explained to CS, these terms are directly related to what I sell and describe them accurately in the title. (Besides, I know from Omniture that my customers use these search words).
I suspect the objection to "Titanic-era" has to do with the movie. This is just lack of education regarding copyright on the part of CS. If eBay insists on this wrongful assumption, then the terms "Victorian era" or "Georgian era" should be banned as well, since movies have been made with those names in them as well - which is quite proper, as they are both descriptive designations, and not "brands". The name "Titanic" has long ago gone into the public domain -- James Cameron had every right to use it for his movie, as does everybody else who wants to use it.
Regarding copyright to my designs: This is completely clear-cut, and I think it's just poor training or ignorance of even basic copyright laws on the part of CS to claim that a design adapted, translated, developed and re-drafted completely from a 100+ year old document with no known author can in any way be copyright infringement. I currently hold copyright for all such designs I develop, and yet I seem to have to keep dealing with the issue of listing 'warnings' because of copyright infringement.
Thanks for anything you can suggest.

If it's of any help to the eBay staff, I recall seeing this problem mentioned on the discussion boards - can't remember whether it was "bookelph" who brought it up originally though, but I think there were others.

Thanks bookelph. That does help. Not surprisingly, our tools are telling us exactly what My eBay is telling you - still a live item, and no purchase activity on it.
We have someone looking at your PayPal account and we don't see a record for this payment either.
Is it possible that you have received a spoof email or something?
Do you still see a record in PayPal for the payment?

Hi rose-dee,
Raphael is currently on vacation which is why he didn't respond. I'll take this one offline & forward it to our Trust and Safety team to see what we can do in this situation. Someone should be able in touch with you soon regarding this.
Thanks,

Yes it is in my Paypal account. Amount is correct, buyer info matches, details of transaction look exactly like every other payment for ebay sale.
Everything about this looks kosher...except ebay has not recorded the sale.
(TO rose-see: I have not had this problem before, and have not posted anywhere else about this.
If you can find the other post you mentioned, maybe it would help Rodney )

Hi bookelph,
I'll start a thread offline with you for a few details so we can look into this further.
Thanks,

Thanks Kalvin - I can wait until Raphael returns and is able to respond. This is such an old and recurring issue for me that another couple of weeks won't be critical. Besides, I gave Raphael all the legal resource material, etc., so it's probably simpler for him to deal with it.
However if you do feel it's better to pass it on to someone in Trust and Safety, I'd be happy to hear from them. I've considered registering with "VeRO", but I've heard that other sellers have not been protected consistently by that programme either.
I think this is a case of over-zealousness on the part of whoever (or whatever computer programme) searches for these issues combined with total lack of understanding -- not a happy combination.
Thanks for passing this on.

I hesitate to mention ... Paypal labels ...
You've probably seen all the upset on the discussion boards over postage-stamp sized labels suddenly appearing using Chrome, and bar codes that can't be scanned using IE. Some seem to be having one or the other issue with Firefox too.
Do you know if anybody at eBay/Paypal/Pitney Bowes is looking into this -- it's becoming very frustrating and time-consuming just getting a regular-sized, readable label printed.
Thanks (on behalf of everybody who has been tearing their hair out over this issue).

Hi - here is one I was able to find. It seems in that case the message was extremely slow, but later appeared. I do recall a number of people mentioning this.
