eBay listing shipping display issue with USA and possession like Puerto Rico

Scenario #1

On eBay.ca, create a listing using Flat Rate shipping with two International shipping options, first one for USA only using Light packet USA as free and the second one with Worldwide Light Packet International as $3.

On the live listings, in the shipping section select United States and you get two shipping options with one for Light Packet USA and Light Packet International. USA is showing for both.

(Old problem, this should be fixed. As a side issue, is this problem ever going to be fixed?)

Select Puerto Rico and you get the same two options. Puerto Rico is considered part of the USA and International so it shows Light Packet USA and Light Packet International options.

Scenario 2

Set up same as above but use generic shipping options Standard Int'l for both. So first option is USA only with Standard Int'l with Free Shipping and second option is Worldwide with Standard Int'l at $3.

Puerto Rico is no considered part of the USA and only shows the Standard Int'l shipping with a charge of $3.
Using the generic shipping options should not affect Puerto Rico being part of the USA.

Now I do not think this is a "bug" but a design decision. Canad Post Light Packet USA service is the same cost to Puerto Rico as the USA so they can have the same rates.  For the generic option Standard Int'l, the shipping option for Puerto Rico can be a shipping service which is higher than continental USA. So Puerto Rico can't be included as part of the USA.

My issue is that I switched from using shipping option with specific Canad Post options (Light Packet USA) to generic shipping options (Standard Int'l) because of estimated shipping time shown by the listings. Light Packet USA shows 4 to 6 days and Standard Int'l shows 1 to 10 days. I actually use Light Packet USA for the Standard Int'l to the USA but I find the estimated delivery time unrealistic for Light Packet USA to arrive in 6 days. Many times it does but I prefer a range of 1 to 10 days.

In the past, I used 3 day handling time but since a 1 day handling time supposedly gives a small boost in search for Best Match, I use a 1 day handling time.

I used to get sales to Puerto Rico but since I made the change to generic shipping options and show a shipping cost when I actually want Free shipping, no sales to Puerto Rico. This cost may be a factor or not for sales to Puerto Rico.
Comments or suggestions on this small issue I have?

Small suggestion: why don't you lock this board (weekly board hour) so that users cannot start a new thread, limiting this ability to staff only.

It would eliminate the need to move several new threads every week by members who may not realize this board is reserved for your weekly hour exclusively..

Hi pierrelebel,

We'll see if this is an option.

Thanks,
