Well it's been confirmed now. About the only thing left buoyant in the Toronto council or the Ford associates.........is Ford himself. But then again.......they said the Titanic was unsinkable!

Might be true.....might not......but homicide detectives may be closing in on the now infamous alleged  crack-smoking video that the city's mayor has said "does not exist."

Police  have confirmed that a staff member from Rob Ford's office has come  forward with a tip about the location of the alleged video that has been  talked about in the media for more than a week now.

I won`t even know who to cote for next election. I am just disgusted with every party right now in 1 way or another .. I think 2015 I will vote to not be as proud to be Canadian anymore

It was a knee jerk reaction on the part of the voters the same as Harper being elected after the Liberal Ad scandal.

I guess those knees were still jerking when he got his current majority.

At least it can be said that Mayor Joe has done a lot to improve the employment pictures.  He has single-handedly kept the legal profession going.

He may have kept the legal profession in $$$ but only Gord will benefit in the long run and he should be able to finally retire after Fontana's bill is paid.

I am looking at the green party.

They will need to find a whole lot more candidates if they are going to win any kind of control in any government.  I have long maintained that May is Canada's token green advocate.  Most people favor "green" as long as it:

a) doesn't cost them any money

b) doesn't mean I actually have to do something

and

c) it doesn't affect my life style of consumption and waste

Canada's ok, still one of the best countries in the world. We've always had corrupt politicians, every country has, but in our new day and age of instant communication and abilities to find information that was never there before.......we now know more than we did in the past.

As for voting....well I do agree with you there. Who does one vote for? Every politician has sold their political souls either already in the past or when they get into power they have a tendency to be corruptible. Someone once said that the best form of government is a benevolent king. There may be some truth to that.

I've got to a point in my life now that I believe we all just have to live our own lives, keep below the radar and be happy. I've often told the wife that if I win the lottery I'm building a 10ft high and 3ft thick stone wall around the property with gun turrets on each corner and a moat full of alligators surrounding the whole thing.

He didn’t get a popular vote majority and he had no competition and people in Canada are complacent at best. Next election………totally different.

The Green Party as much as they have good intentions have to have more for the Canadian public. First of all……..a name change. Secondly a wider political statement concerning other aspects of Canadian life. Thirdly…..they need a better PR person to get May and their message out to the public. Our media treat our politics as though we only have 2 ½ parties. One of the problems with our political system in Canuckland.

yeah see I was looking at the green party too but I think they lack alot of what it takes to run this country ..

But same could be said for other parties i guess too which is why i might not vote this time around..

I don`t care if my prime minister does crack and cheats on his wife and like to go streaking i just want a prime minister that can take this country in the right direction...

As prior said it`s like an open book now way more then before.Now politicians and anyone in the spotlight is more concerned with a maintaining a good image then they are doing there job because millions of people are concerned with their personal habits and life more then they are what they can do for us and our country... I could care less about what someone does on there spare time and how they spend there money ...

And lets see he got 36.3% of the vote in 2006, 37.7% in 2008 and then 39.6% in 2011

The problem I have with politicians with ladies of the night and doing hard drugs is both have an attachment to organized crime, especially the drugs. That makes the politician vulnerable in many ways. That vulnerability can play into their judgements the same as it has done to politicians in Montreal.

Who does one vote for?

It is rare that I vote for a person because of their party.

I have always had the attitude that I will vote for the person most qualified in my riding, regardless of their party affiliation.

Sometimes there is not a whole lot to choose from.  But other times, someone stands out as an individual who has worked hard to help the people in my area.  Someone who has spoken out for the less fortunate in the area.  Someone who has had an influence on the riding itself.

I know that it is a somewhat narrow way of looking at things, but I have no faith in parties.  I realize my candidate may not have a whole lot of influence provincially or federally.  At least, I know that he person I vote for can be trusted to represent the area in the best possible way they can.

I wouldn't say it was a narrow outlook. I think a lot of people vote that way. The thing is most voters don't know their local politicians.....I mean really know them. They might have read the politician has said this or done that but what else is there about them that is not known. What they want people to hear or see will be seen or heard but like Fontana, few knew his other 'side'.

I think when it comes to elections, politicians have to be put to the test and the people should know their history and see them in far more debates with other candidates. We'd learn a lot more than every corner littered with election signs.
