If you refuse to read a newspaper because they "attack" a politician you support, you are left with little choice but the Toronto Sun (Sun Media).

Good Luck to you getting news, real news.

I don't support Ford.

I am not sure if I would vote for him.

It seems to me that the Star is out to get Ford.

I feel that they should stick to reporting the news instead of making it.

I have to no problems with editorials, but the whole newspaper is an editorial.

They talk about a video as a fact that only handful of people claim to have seen.

They're starting to make the National Enquirer look like a newspaper with ethics.

There are lots of places besides the Star to get the news, especially somewhat unbiased news.

You can't even use the Star as tp.

The Toronto Star has become a rallying call for the right. But even the Sun believes there was/is video.  As for where the video is, Ford knew where it might be the morning after the initial Star article was published. Maybe we should put 2 and 2 together.  "I can't comment on a video that doesn't exist."

But once again, we have to hand it to Ford Nation for standing behind their man after such a disgraceful display throughout his tenure.  Wonder if tourism will be up in Toronto this year?

But one has to reasonably think that they are defending an ideology and not the man.  He is indefensible.

I don't like him as a person and wouldn't want someone like him as a friend or as a neighbour at the cottage, but he gets the job done.

seem to ignore the character assassination of Ford.

This Ford situation is different. Why? Because it was a criminal act and one or two of the Star reporters seen the video and to them it definitely was Ford in it. Now at that point......what does a media organization do with it? Do they ignore it or report it? Take the infamous Watergate .......started as a simple burglary and then one person said this and one said that and then there was the person known as deepthroat who told a lot but nothing was verifiable out in the open. However the two reporters who brought it out front for the people were the catalyst for the questions being asked and then investigations and the rest as they say........ is history.

The 'attack ads' I do not like are the contrived ones, taken out of context or showing photos that have nothing to do with the subject....eg: the CON ads where Trudeau is taking off his shirt. That was for a charity event. Then they mentioned in so many words can Trudeau handle being PM and showed a much younger photo of him. That's 'contrived' and manipulated.

I prefer news sources to report the news instead being part of it.

They did report the news......'Rob Ford seen on video smoking crack and video is up for sale'. I'd call that news.

I don't subscribe to any newspaper or media. I find very few of them worth it. I read what there is to read and make my own decisions.

"As a matter of fact Quebecers are better than the rest of Canada, because we're Quebecers".

I cannot for the life of me figure out any context where these comments are not attacks on everyone in Canada who is not from Quebec.

Your hypocracy is showing,

"I cannot for the life of me figure out any context"

That is the problem with Conservatives.  You make assumptions.  You assume that these words reflect what Justin Trudeau said.

From the National Post (NOT a Liberal newspaper)

The quote in the ad is as follows: “Quebecers are better than the rest of Canada, because, you know, we’re Quebecers or whatever.’”

The narrator chuckles and responds, “Yeah, nothing says good judgment like saying one region is better than another. Justin Trudeau — he’s in way over his head.”

Over at justinoverhishead.ca, Team Tory provides what it says is the “full context of the quotation”...

Not quite. Justin Trudeau was describing his father’s beliefs, not his own, as they pertained to separatists and their demands for special treatment. Here’s the entire quote:

His philosophy, certainly as he passed it on to us, has always been Quebeckers are better than the rest of Canada because we’re Quebeckers or whatever — I mean, this idea that a lot more of us are bilingual, bi-cultural. There’s a lot more awareness of the rest and that’s a richness. Who’s to say that we should need special protection or special deals or special allowances that make us protected?

Now, you know the rest of the story. Why did you assume - for a moment - that the attack ad - produced and paid for by the Conservative party - was honest?

If he said that Quebecers do not need special treatment.

The context doesn't absolve him of his comments, but does explain what he said.

He also claimed that the best PMs were from Quebec.

Including Mulroney and forgetting about Pearson.

If I may, instead of constantly attacking directly or indirectly members of the opposition parties or former administrations, why don't you spend your time positively spreading the word on the good stuff the conservative government in Ottawa is doing?

For example, last week:

Late Thursday, Federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty warned Ontario Finance Minister Charles Sousa that no increase to the 13 per cent tax would be permitted.

Flaherty said any scheme to raise the levy regionally in the Greater Toronto/Hamilton Area would violate terms Queen’s Park and Ottawa agreed upon when they harmonized the 5 per cent GST and the 8 per cent provincial sales tax in 2010.

Now - that was something positive from the Conservatives.  Why are you guys silent?

Don't you think it would be more effective to show the positive aspect of the administration instead of attacking - usually with little success - your political opponents?

Same thing last year when the federal government put the brakes on the takeover of Potash Corp.  That was positive - yet most Conservatives were silent on the subject, prefering to attack, attack, attack or spin, spin, spin.

I am sure he said a lot of things in his lifetime.  So what?

Pearson was not from Quebec, was he?  Justin was listing Prime Ministers from Quebec and had the courage to include a Conservative (Mulroney)!

Do you know and understand the context of those remarks?  Did you know they were in French?

Sun Media (NOT a Liberal newspaper) published comments that Trudeau made in a November 2010 interview in French on the Télé-Québec program Les Francs-tireurs (The Straight Shooters). In the interview, Trudeau seemed to take aim at Alberta politicians, and argued Canada was better off in the hands of leaders from Quebec.

"Canada isn't doing well right now because it's Albertans who control our community and socio-democratic agenda. It doesn't work," Trudeau told interviewer Patrick Lagacé.

When asked whether he thought Canada was "better served when there are more Quebecers in charge than Albertans," Trudeau replied, "I'm a Liberal, so of course I think so, yes. Certainly when we look at the great prime ministers of the 20th century, those that really stood the test of time, they were MPs from Quebec.

There was Trudeau, there was Mulroney, there was Chrétien, there was Paul Martin. We have a role. This country, Canada, it belongs to us."

So, maybe Justin is arrogant like his father was. That is not a crime is it?

Pearson was from Ontario.

Arrogance is not a crime, but it is not a desired character trait.

Arrogance is associated with snobs.

I don't like snobs.

I like confidant people.

There are some things about Trudeau that I do like.

I haven't totally discounted him or Mulcair.

The fact is, he doesn't like Trudeau and has said so many times in the past. Doesn't like his looks, or his money. It's now just a matter of finding anything and everything to say against him and even supporting CONservative attack ads taking a quote from 1999 and misusing it. Short of Trudeau saying more kids should get into gaming including miniatures war gaming, collectable card games, board games, role playing games and the accessories...and the best place to buy them is a store on Dundas St in London.......Trudeau will never get an approval.

I don't do links for some people for two reasons:

a) People can find them themselves if they try.

b) I only give them to people who show up.

Arrogance is associated with snobs.

Hardly. Some of the best leaders in the world have been 'arrogant' in their own way. Arrogance becomes 'snobbish' when people refuse to listen at all to others, or feel they are superior.
