A while back in the 80's I think it was 'Princess Margaret' was accused of having an affair with a well known criminal in the UK by the name of John Bindon. Of course she denied it and swore she had never even met him........until.........a photo of her sitting with him on the island of Mustique came to the voters, as well as statements by others who were there at the time. Bindon is wearing a t-shirt that says "Enjoy Cocaine". Something else that Bindon was known for the Princess asked him to do. It concerned holding 5 pints of beer.

 What is your point?

My points are two fold. First that people voted for Ford because he did a good sales job on himself, but who is really behind the face? Well that's something people are finding out, but should have researched before....they put that X on the voting card. People are too easily sold a bill of goods. Even his brother and sister, it seems the whole family has problems. Voting in Ford was a knee jerk reaction by voters, the same as voting in Fontana and voting in Harper and all three were bad choices. Time people took their politics more seriously.

My second point is no matter who the person is, leaders, kings or queens, you really can't trust them until you REALLY know them....and that....takes digging..... and time.

I don't know of anyone who doesn't have skeletons in their closets or have some character flaws.

They voted for him because he listened to and helped them.

What about redemption?

There was no mistake about voting in Harper and Fontana. They were the best choice at the time. Ontario has suffered the most recently and it's not because of Harper or Fontana. It's because of McGuinty.

How did Ford 'help' them?

Redemption? They can do it on their own time, not the taxpayer's time or buck.

No mistake in voting in Harper of Fontana???? No comment, that hasn't already been made by many.

McGuinty.....it ended up not a good choice, but he too was a knee jerk political decision, albeit better than the CONS at the time. However McGuinty did not have a past so he was hard to pinpoint.

What?

No past?

Where have you been?

The last election gave him his 3rd term?

Hudak had a 20 point lead and blew it because he came across as an angry racist homophobe.

They are still regarded by many others as  better choices than the alternatives.

How did Ford 'help' them?

He helped people in Toronto who were having problems with city hall.

Some people still think that he helped the people of Toronto.  It's just bizarre.

I was talking about 'past' before his first election.

Lets not forget that after winning the first election McGuinty asked former Provincial Auditor Erik Peters to examine the province's finances. Peters revealed that the out-going Conservative administration had left a hidden deficit of at least $5.6 billion.

Hudak had a 20 point lead and blew it because he came across as an angry racist homophobe.

Well, if the shoe fits and it did. Of course he is more than that, which is why even now, after the McGuinty reign, the Liberals are either still neck and neck in some polls and in others ahead of Hudak and the CONs.

They are still regarded by many others as  better choices than the alternatives.

Well there are always those who vote for the worst. Harris was re-elected, Harper was re-elected (sort of), many in the US to this day feel Bush was a good President and Fontana.....well I think you would be hard pressed to get him elected as dog catcher next term (along with many others on the council). Even McGuinty, he left before being turfed out. Then there is Ford! Do you see the trend? People are tired of ultra right winged politicians and any other politicians who are corrupt. There's a changing of people's views on politicians, they are educating themselves rather than sticking to one party or jumping from one to another like a rabbit on a hot skillet.

He helped people in Toronto who were having problems with city hall.

If you say so. 🙂

Doug Ford disputes Globe report on family history with drug dealing

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/toronto/doug-ford-disputes-globe-report-on-family-history-with-drug-dealing/article12156831/

The Globe and Mail investigation was the result of 18 months of research, including interviews with dozens of people who knew the Ford brothers in their formative years.

The story painted a picture of a family once deeply immersed in the illegal drug scene, and explained how all three of Mayor Ford’s siblings – brother Randy, 51, sister Kathy, 52, as well as Doug, 48, – have had ties to drug traffickers.

Ten people who grew up with Doug Ford – a group that includes two former hashish suppliers, three street-level drug dealers and a number of casual users of hash – have described in a series of interviews how for several years Doug Ford was a go-to dealer of hash in Etobicoke, a Toronto suburb.

These sources had varying degrees of knowledge of his activities: Some said they purchased hash directly from him, some said they supplied him, while others said they observed him handling large quantities of the drug.

Mulcare was offered a bribe.

He turned it down but didn't report it.

The fact that someone would assume that he was approachable for a bribe makes me wonder.

I know an OPP officer who investigates corruption and he told me Canada is just as bad as most third world countries.

It works better when the correct spelling is used!

LOL.........I had just copied and pasted his words Mulcare and bribe. Didn't even notice he had spelled Mulcair wrong. Strange that Google didn't give me an option for the search which they often do. Neither did the internet news networks.

Anyhow............MulCAIR should have reported it then and there at the time. He may not have become part of the offer, but in a sense he still was by ignoring it. Not good in my view.

I don't have a problem Mulcair and now that he claims to be moving his party more to the right I see him as a viable option.

I have a cynical view of all politicians and expect them all to be corrupt.

Ford on a radio show calls the media ...."a bunch of maggots".

Then his brother on the same show continues on about city council and saying ......."Do you know something, I'll tell you right now, the vast majority couldn't get a job. I'll tell you that right now and that's fact," he said. "I wish the media looked into some of their backgrounds, where they came from."

Ford and his brother are breaking down. How will this affect Toronto?

It means that he won't get re-elected unless the choice is Chow or Ford and then it's anybody's to win.

The latest polls show that Chow would win over Ford in all current configurations.  Head to head, Chow is around 65-70%.

But who can trust polls anymore?

Message 39 of 166

Just checked.  Head to head the actual percentage is Chow 57%, Ford 35%.

Of course, that and $1.50 will get you a cup of coffee.
