Don Cherry at Mayor Rob Ford's Inauguration
Ooopps, wrong pipe.
06-03-2013 08:34 AM
I would think that any intelligent person who knows Ford's reputation for being drunk, caught in the US with drugs, refusing to give a breathalyzer test, (not to mention his other arrogant events)........would think there is a reasonable assumption that he did cocaine. I'm not saying he was doing cocaine, the pipe could have had something else in it like hashish, but does Toronto really need a mayor, the representative of the city, with all his problems? This isn't about Ford, it's about the city. With his past he couldn't get a job as a cop, but yet he gets to run a city with over 2 1/2 million people. Ford's an accident looking for somewhere to happen.....Star or no Star.

Warch and see what happens in the next election. Both brothers are running again.

"Both brothers are running again."
???
The mayor indicated last week that he would run again. That does not mean he will. We will find out next year if he does or not.
The brother on the other hand indicated his intention to run for the provincial Conservative party where he is not welcome.
We live in interesting times.

Doug Ford says he’s ready to derail Premier Kathleen Wynne’s “gravy train” by running for the Progressive Conservatives in a possible spring election.
Taking to the airwaves Wednesday with his familiar refrain, the Etobicoke North Ward 2 city councillor and Mayor Rob Ford’s older brother capped months of speculation about his plans, saying Wynne’s push for...
“We’re gonna go down there and we’re gonna stop the gravy train in Ontario,” Ford told CP24 after an earlier appearance on AM640, insisting the province can find $2 billion a year in savings to cover the transit cost.
“Call an election, Kathleen Wynne, in May and I will run. I will guarantee it and we will defeat you,” Ford said on station’s John Oakley Show, a favourite landing spot for Conservative politicos.
“We will make sure this province is going in the right direction.”

I see he 'plans' to miss the Pride parade again and repeats "family comes first". There's a real double message!
I think it s wrong for him to not support pride, but if he has numbers that he doesn't get votes from pride I can understand why he does what he does.

As a mayor of a city, you do the right thing and the right thing is to be there to support all groups of people within the city. The Pride parade and the gay and lesbian people are no small group and to ignore them sends a message. Ford may be arrogant and a bully and who knows what else.....but he's not totally stupid and he knows what that message is.

What kind of reception do you think he would receive if he did show?
06-03-2013 11:37 AM
Based on what he has already done.......the reception would be mixed. If however.....before the parade........he went on the media and said that this year he has moved his family obligations to another day and he would be proud to be part of the parade....along with his wife.......then I think the reception would be positive. He can't just show up as if he was criticized into attending......he has to lay the groundwork beforehand.
BUT.........if he doesn't believe in the Pride parade and doesn't like gay people.......then I wish he would say it openly and be honest for a change. Let the cards fall where they may.

Why are some the calling for his resignation not going to court to force him to resign?
06-03-2013 01:44 PM
06-03-2013 01:46 PM
In that case they can pound sand.

06-03-2013 02:24 PM
The people demanding his resignation.
They have nothing that can force him to resign.
Thy can wait until the next election to try and remove him.
Too many sour grapes with nothing to do but whine.

For someone who doesn't like attack ads you seem to ignore the character assassination of Ford.
If I were a subscriber to the Star before I would have cancelled my subscription.

Nobody has to assassinate Mayor Ford's character. It's one thing he does very well.
But defending the defenceless, as if smoking cocaine is the only thing this bozo has done in the last three years.
And why would you cancel The Star? I'm quite sure your local paper and TV station reported it, as well.
And if The Star was wrong, what about Ford's reaction? Where are the threats of law suits? Up in smoke, no doubt?
06-03-2013 03:07 PM
And as for the gay pride parade, the only year that he wasn't "at the cottage" was in 2010 when he was running for mayor.

"...someone who doesn't like attack ads..."
I do not like attack ads, whatever their origin, whoever their target.
However, when a political party pays good money to produce and buy airtime to force us to listen to and watch attack ads, we have little choice, do we?
I do subscribe to the Toronto Star (delivered every morning by 6:00am in our driveway) and to the Intelligencer (owned and produced by Sun Media) delivered every afternoon and get the Glove & Mail on weekends and see little reason to cancel either subscription because I do not agree with every paragraph or article in every issue of the newspaper.
The articles published in the Toronto Star and the Globe & Mail on the Ford brothers are not advertisements, they are not "attack ads". They are not paid by the opposition party They are exposes. There is a difference.

The difference is the Star buys ink by the barrel.
If they were an exposes, then why haven't we seen the video?
I prefer news sources to report the news instead being part of it.
