Packages coming into Canada slow.

   Has anyone else had a package that was mailed in the USA take a long time to get into Canada. My last few packages form the USA sent by USPS did well into they got to a USPS ISC like New York or L.A. then they took a long time to arrive in Canada.

   Normally any package I have received from the USA once it gets to a USPS ISC it arrives in Canada 2 to 4 days later. My last few packages have taken any where from 10 days to 16 days. The 16 day one I had to have the seller put a trace on it. That one went through USPS ISC New York  as did most of the other packages. The rest went through USPS ISC L.A.

    I know the USPS is have financial problems but service sure has changed for packages coming to Canada for me. It is not like I am buying anything that would cause the package to be held up. Unless Model Train stuff is a danger now.

I usually allow 20 days for items to arrive from the USA.

There can be variations if there are an unusual number of weekends or holidays in that period. For example, an item purchased on Friday August 29 by September 21 would have passed through three weekend and Labour Day slowdowns.

And if you don't live in a major centre like Toronto or Vancouver, it could be longer.

You have up to 45 days to start an Item Not Received Dispute and 60 days to leave feedback if the problem is the seller delaying shipment.

Also, are you buying from new sellers, or buying in high value/high risk categories? Some sellers who are subject to the Paypal 21 Day Hold will decide they don't have to ship until the money is in their own hands (although the cleared payment is with PP). This is a common delay.

I've found that most packages from the U.S. take anywhere from 10 days to 3 weeks. If they come earlier, it's a bonus!

However, I have heard that some packages may go into a temporary black hole when they are sent to certain U.S. sorting centers. I know one of those centers is in California although I don't remember if it is L.A. or not.

There is post on a U.S. board about a package taking 2 months from Cali to the buyer in Canada. Tracking showed that it took a trip to a few other countries first.
